adonis98-743-186503 A retiring police officer reminisces about the most astounding day of his career. About a case that was never filed but continues to haunt him in his memories - the case of a man and a Wednesday. A Wednesday is a film that was made in India and it makes perfect sense because except some good cinematography this was a horribly slow pacing drama that went on and on, the acting was horrible and the actors didn't try enough and sorry to say this but it doesn't deserve the rating it got in IMDb because it's just simply bland and an overly long failure. (0/10) (F)
cronkanu Never have i seen such a bad flick so highly rated. It changes my whole perspective about rating movies and reading reviews on popular and great sites. I have seen bad movies...i never wrote a bad review...never said its a waste of time...this one is...but not wasted time...stolen time by the idea and rating that it has...and if you say to yourself: "just one bad opinion floating in a sea of likes" Try it...go for it. i can assure you its floating in a sea of lies... PS my 1st ever review.
SnoopyStyle Mumbai police chief Prakash Rathod is set to retire as he recounts one particular case that took place in a Wednesday. A mysterious man orchestrates his plan from a rooftop perch high above the city. He has planted bombs around the city and threatens to set them off unless four al-Qaeda prisoners are released to him. He pulls in young inexperienced reporter Naina Roy. As Prakash tries to track him down, police officers Arif Khan and Jai Singh secretly round up the four prisoners. There are two mitigating aspects that could allow me to rate this higher. The first is rating this on the curve simply because it's an Indian movie. While it has aspects of Die Hard and Speed, this doesn't have the same intensity or action. Expecting less from Bollywood should not be an excuse. The second is a real cathartic release. There is a twist that speaks to the frustration against terrorism that should not be denied. The problem is that the speech goes on too long. A shorter speech could deliver the same punch without slowing down the ending. The acting ranges from functional indie to functional gravitas. There are strange little comedic asides that don't really work for me. I don't like the repetitive music cues but that may be cultural. This has all the tropes including the need to keep this a secret. Prakash being the lead keeps this static since he's really the brains working out of an office. It does have enough excitement to keep things moving and a good enough twist to make it compelling.
tjvinod97 What its about (No spoilers):A Wednesday is a Bollywood Terrorist vs Police thriller. As its title suggests, the entire movie takes place over the course of a single Wednesday. The movie is mainly a battle of wits type movie where the main protagonist and antagonist do not really meet face to face, not unlike the 'Death Note' series and the Sherlock- Moriarty storyline in the Sherlock Holmes series. Neeraj Pandey did a very good job directing and writing this movie, which was his debut. The fast editing cuts felt very similar to that of certain terrorism scenes in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, and they made the scenes a lot more heart pounding. The throbbing soundtrack further adds to this sensation. Characters:The variety of characters added, such as a reporter, police officers and police commissioner provide depth to the situation and show how one man is affecting various people. These characters were set up particularly cleverly, by leaving audiences in the dark regarding their importance to the storyline for most of the first act.The terrorist was very interesting to watch, partly because of the methodical way that he operated. He also is given a measure of vulnerability, which made him more human and all the more interesting. The heroes are a little less interesting, but the procedures they use to try to solve the problem are entertaining non the less. Story and themes:The script is tightly woven, with barely any dull moments. Utilising action over dialogue to tell the story, it commands attention. Some moments, like the first scene in the movie, did feel a little unnecessary, and seemed to be added just for the stylistic effect of foreshadowing. For the most part, the plot is very believable, and they show all the terrorists actions systematically, leaving no room for plot holes. However, I had a slight issues with the twist at the end. It was slightly anti climatic, and while I could understand the reason behind it, I can't say I wasn't hoping for more. Also, I did not see the point in some scenes with a certain violent police officer, and they could have developed his character in a much shorter time. Some very thought provoking themes were also brought up. Questions about the legal system and the damage that one man could cause were addressed. While these themes aren't novel in any way, they are still relevant. The film makers thankfully did manage to communicate these questions in a way that wasn't too preachy. Verdict:By balancing thrilling drama with thought provoking themes, A Wednesday's position as one of the most well received Bollywood Dramas is justified. While not on the same level as Christopher Nolan's masterpiece, I can see why many refer to it as 'India's Dark Knight'.
