Thane Dynamo There has never been a film in my life that I have adored as much as "Anne Frank". I found it on the Internet and thought "I'll give this a try" and I did. I have to say, I was lost in so many ways: lost in amazement, lost in admiration and lost in great sadness. In short, I loved this film so DEEPLY, despite being reduced in tears at the same time. The story is based on the biography by Melissa Müller and tells of the young girl before, during and after her years of hiding with her family and friends from the Nazi terror over Holland during the Second World War. Throughout the film, you have emotion and in-depth introduction to just about every character in the story. You have a complete exploration into the unfortunate life of a young girl with SO many ambitions. To express an opinion, Hannah Taylor Gordon is the perfect actress to portray Anne Frank, her emotions are just...outstandingly adorable. It is just brilliant to not have a celebrity actress to play her. There is also Ben Kingsley, who plays as Anne's father, Otto. He, too, has the perfect match to the protective father and his emotions at the end made me cry. All the other actors and actresses were fantastic, my personal favourite being Jessica Manley as Anne's older sister, Margot. Normally, there are cons that should be noted, but to me it is an insult to give any, an insult to Ann Frank's memory. The film is a bit slow, but that isn't bad at all. If there is one thing I cannot stand, it is a film that goes through a story quickly, ruining the pleasure of watching a film. Anne Frank is a great exception, it goes through the story slowly and steadily and the characters are introduced in a great way. A warning to those who are vulnerable to tragic scenes, the last half hour is heart-wrenching. I am not ashamed to admit, I was in floods of tears during that half hour and I don't usually cry. So as a conclusion, I give this film a definite 10 and I have made it a personal favourite. I highly recommend it!
Syl Let's face this fact that Anne Frank's diary is almost as well read as the Bible, Torah, and Koran. We all know about Anne Frank, the Dutch Jewish girl, who hid in the attic with her family during World War II from the Nazis. She wrote in her diary about life in the attic and how they lived under constant fear and terror. The cast has Sir Ben Kingsley as Anne's father, Otto Frank, and lone survivor. Brenda Blethyn OBE is also in the cast. It's chilling when they get to the concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen, the separation, hair-shaving, and ritual act of dehumanizing everybody there. There was no talk among them as they sat with their hair being cut off for another purpose. We know who made it and didn't. After visiting Auschwitz in 2000, I didn't feel what I supposed to feel like ghosts and hauntings which I feared the most because it drains you emotionally. Even 60 years after the Holocaust, I fear that people are forgetting about it and not learning from it. We haven't learned because there are other Anne Franks out there. It is still a haunting and chilling testament of survival and the human spirit.
totalDEPPfanatic Once again I had to watch this movie as a wrap to the Holocaust unit in English class. Let me tell you right off the bat, I cried so hard at the end. I had to leave the room I was crying so hard and I couldn't stop. The only movie that has ever made me cry is Titanic. This movie is perfect. It follows Anne through her years before hiding and after they are found.Anne Frank was an ordinary teenage girl. She wanted to see the world and be famous. Anne loved her father but didn't get along so well with her mother. She was forced into hiding from the Nazi's in a small attic with seven other people. She had to go through ordinary teenager things, like getting her period, in hiding. She couldn't see her friend or other family, or this boy she had a crush on before she went into hiding. She later falls in love with Peter, one of the people in hiding with her and she clashes with people in the "Secret Annexe" what she calls the hiding place. When they are found, it broke my heart. When they are in the concentration camp it broke my heart. I basically cried from the time they are found to the time that Anne and Margot die at Bergen-Belson, and let's not forget Otto Frank just collapsing when he found out his wife and children are dead. All in all a very powerful movie. The best Anne Frank movie made. A must see and must own.
K8lyn45 I liked the movie. It is good. It is educational. It tells a story. It is about a girl. Her name is Anne Frank. It takes place in a country. Anne dies. It is tragic. It is a great movie. It is a good book. It is also a good movie.
