mhmailings I bought this movie because I loved the first one : Public Enemy.I thought 'Another Public Enemy' would be a different case with the same interesting characters and style as the first one. Instead, the cop is now a Public Prosecutor, he talks, acts and even looks different - without any explanation as to how we got from the first film to this one - it lacks any kind of continuity. It's almost as if the two have nothing to do with each other. In this movie Kang Chul-jung is more of clever, on-the-ball investigator rather than rough-edged instinctive cop he was in part 1.Unlike the first the first film, Another Public Enemy is 'just another cop movie'. For me this film lacked the originality and quirkiness that characterised first one.If you were a fan of Public Enemy 1 you'll be thoroughly disappointed with this.
Muviegirl I really enjoyed this movie!! I thought the two main characters had awesome chemistry and honestly, who on some level does not enjoy a good "good guy" vs. "bad guy" movie every once in a while? Here's what it's about: You have these two men, who were childhood rivals at school. They meet years later when the bad guy (who of course has a ton of money and power but wants even more) ends up committing a sting of crimes. Now the good guy, who has become a cop (with very little money and power, but one hell of a grudge) gets involved. He cannot wait to take down his childhood nemesis, and of course all hell is about to break out, because this case is personal! Honestly, this movie is just so great because it is sooooo much fun to watch!! You get a lot of great action sequences. They are incredibly well choreographed, especially the one at the movie's opening. You also get a lot of laughs, albeit some of them probably aren't intentional on the filmmakers part;) yet this just totally adds to the overall entertainment value. For example, it was just so much fun watching the bad guy do these crazy things just to prove to us that he is in fact "a bad guy." You also get a lot of really creative nastiness. There was a scene from the movie that involved a coke can, which my friend and I must have replayed twice, because it was just hilarious! Obviously this movie is not a complex piece of work, but if you want a movie that's gonna entertain you, then this one is totally for you!
info-3486 I haven't seen many foreign films but a friend past along the Korean DVD to me and I have to say I am now a huge fan and plan to watch more. The two main actors were soo perfect opposite each other. Most Hollywood cop/bad guy films only care about the moments of fighting or action where this film is all about the actually fight between the two leads. It's kind of like watching an episode of Law & Order where you are presented the problem and go through the whole execution of busting the bad guy. That isn't to say that there aren't cool fight scenes, there is this huge one with like 40 guys fighting each other during a police bust which felt like a crazy martial arts film. I loved that. Oh and the have a lot of bikes in the film which i also love. I totally recommend this to someone who wants to see a smart Asian attempt at the police/crime genre!
Nh3 This movie is a very stereotypical police-gangster movie ambient ed in South-Korea. The characters act so childishly and everything is so simplistic that you can hardly believe it when you are watching it. When the protagonist is being "funny" he is just painful to watch. The rhythm is very, very slow, almost like a TV series and with few if any ellipsis. That's what makes the movie so incredibly LONG, I spent 2 and a half hours watching Koreans making bad jokes, many people in my screen didn't stand it all. The patriotic part when the protagonist says how proud he is his national team reached the semifinals in the world cup is shameful. I expected to see some martial arts but besides the spectacular beginning there's very little of it. Is not the kind of movie you hate, but, seriously, avoid it.
