sergelamarche I'm a bit partial with girls in comedy, I admit I like it. It is not top material hilariously because it is full length film and the story has to move along but some bits are definitely laugh out loud stuff. Some bits qualify more as drama than comedy though. Overall, it brings goody feelings of goodness all over speckeled with hilarious chunk. Good for the belly.
SnoopyStyle Kate Holbrook (Tina Fey) is a 37 single successful woman determined for a baby. When she finds she can't conceive, she hires a surrogate Angie (Amy Poehler). Angie leaves her boyfriend Carl (Dax Shepard) and moves in with Kate.I love the chemistry between Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. However I have problems with many of the other characters. Steve Martin plays Kate's wacky boss. He's too ridiculous, and worst of all, he's not funny. Same goes for Dax Shepard. Only his character is a douche on top of it. Even the birthing teacher has a ridiculous voice. The odd couple vibe works great. The best moments happen between those two. They are hilarious together, and saves this movie from a series of stupid characters.
geniuskentyk-1 Pros: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are strong actresses and are able to keep the film interesting, even though the plot is predictable and too simple; the two have enough chemistry to keep the film from becoming boring. I liked that there were some shocking or unpredictable parts in the film, like when we find out that Angie was faking her pregnancy. However, there's another twist soon after we discover this truth. Also, the baby shower scene was the best part of the movie, because it has a lot of emotion stuck into it.Cons: The plot is too flat, too simple, and too predictable. The jokes weren't that funny – I laughed at maybe one or two parts ("Bitch, I don't know your life!"). What happens to Tina Fey's character right at the end of the movie was extremely predictable. This film is really lucky for having such lovable stars as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I'm 100% positive that if Tina Fey had written this movie, it would've been a lot better (she did a wonderful job writing "Mean Girls").
ComedyFan2010 I see this movie more as a friendship comedy than a romantic comedy. The main thing in the movie is the relationship between Kate (Tina Fey) and Angie (Amy Poehler). There are many friendship comedies out there: the ones where two different people get together and their relationship develops while going through funny situations. Only this time the main characters are female.Tina Fey's character is pretty much the one she plays at 30 Rock, which was great for me since I love her on the show. I can't say I like Amy Poehlen, but her and Tina Fey together have a great chemistry. This probably comes from working together before on SNL.A great addition to the movie was Steve Martin. His character was pretty small and not important for the story, but his lines and the way he presented them were hilarious. This isn't a movie where one doesn't stop laughing. It has a lot of funny moments, but there are also some touching moments. All in all it is a great movie that makes one feel good and makes one smile.
