My sister and I decided to have a movie night. We chose to watch Bachelorette. Bad decision. We thought it would be a lighthearted rom-com, but couldn't even make it through the whole movie. From the very beginning of this movie, Rebel Wilson's character is constantly fat shamed and ridiculed by her own "friends". Not only are they unsupportive, but they are deeply offended that their "fat" friend is getting married before them. They humiliate her at her rehearsal dinner and bachelorette party, then ruin her wedding dress.
All in all, would not recommend.

Bettinak-1 is a hater, and certainly no movie critic! This movie had my friends and I laughing the entire time. We love it. If you're trying to dissect every aspect of the movie and basing your judgement on what you think reality should look like, then maybe it's not your type of film. It's adorable and so so funny. I am going to buy it!

This movie deserves a modicum of respect for not giving a damn about establishing any reason to care about any of the horrible characters in it. They all start off horrible, but when the 'plot' (a series of random occurrences stitched together with tedious dialogue scenes) kicks in, they become incredibly annoying too. Oh, and in the manner of these films, they always, always, ALWAYS choose the stupidest, least logical option.
All of this combined with no jokes, an intensely irritating performance by Isla Fisher, some unearned and false emotional moments and the colossal waste of talent add up to a film to avoid.

I totally get why this movie has garnered so many opposing reviews. It's a classic case of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus...AND it is more than that. I'm not saying that you need to be a woman to "get" and like this film. IMHO you have to be the type of person who's been through therapy and understands how people can be passive-aggressive and yet loving/caring...all at the same time. If you have a true understanding of the human condition (not just female)--a TRUE understanding--then you'll have fun watching this movie. No, it's not life changing or transcendental. But it's very real and it's very engaging. Watch with a glass of wine. And enjoy!
