While I do not think "Barbershop: The Next Cut" is as good as the previous Barbershop films, it is still quite enjoyable and has a lot to offer. It also spends a lot of the film focusing on the mess that Chicago has become and some ways to perhaps improve it.Like the previous films, there is a huge cast and very episodic nature to the picture. Many of the same folks from previous films are in this one as well as quite a few female beauticians. The main problems addressed in this one is Calvin (Ice Cube) and his son who is gravitating towards gangs as well as marital trouble one of the men is having...due in part to his wife almost never being home. What I particularly liked about this one was the film half hour or so. Seeing the gang issue tackled and the emotional scenes between Calvin and his son were very satisfying. Overall, not a great film but a worth addition to a very good franchise.

This movie was supposed to be a comedy but quickly turned into garbage. Loved the first movie and had high hopes for the sequel and then this crap comes out. Getting tired of seeing all this BLM stuff on TV and how racism is still alive and effecting our communities but it's OK to promote and advertise that same garbage in movies. Want to overcome racism, try not promoting it and reminding everybody every second of the day about it. I'm by no way in hell a racist, so please let's not jump to conclusions. This movie has to be the worst piece of garbage Ice Cube's been in. There is nothing comedic about this movie. The movie is pure propaganda. Sadly disappointing

Considering that this film wouldn't meet the expectations I had, it actually did. It's very hilarious, funny and interesting at the same time. Ice Cube demonstrates his character very seriously and strongly, same goes with common and regina hall. In a torn=up society in chicago, this film is one of the best of the comedy genre.Nicki Minaj's portrayal as her character is practically the same as herself, attitude-based, flirtatious (especially to common's character) and very talkative. I think she did it well, certainly a big improvement to her acting career from The Other Woman. This film just has it all, very sophisticated and brilliant with its direction and personalities from each of the characters. In a gang- piled city where shooting takes place frequently, this film shows how easy it is to make change and never give up what you started.Barbershop: The Next Cut, the film which inspires you in the future t bring about change.

I was gonna give this one a 7 but than realized how much this movie surprised me. I liked about every bit of it and especially for a comedy that is rare. The basic story is solid but the natural equal approach was extremely refreshing. Everyone had a good role to play and all got some time to shine and all of their characters developed through the course of the movie.None of all of there celebrity status is felt in this movie and especially Nicky Minaj and Eve acted very "down to earth". Icecube is in the center of all this running the barbershop and he was very convincing as a parent and a dad who has to chosse between the risky location of the barbershop or his family.I've been a hip hop fan all my life so I saw a lot of Icecube's movies but never really got into the barbershop movies. Now that I've seen this one I will definitely revisit them to see how they hold up to this one.A good mix of comedy and drama,a well written script funny and with a message and a talented cast to execute it.This is a movie with real meaning to it,I highly recommend it.But seriously...it's also great fun.Enjoy!
