cmrussell-54713 I remember watching the real "Battle of the Sexes." I was 16 when it happened, and I remember my dad saying, "Well what did you expect? She's 25 years younger than he is!" But Bobby Riggs had just beaten Margaret Court, and was quite a good player. Everyone was in such anticipation of this match back then and even I thought he might well beat Billie Jean. The movie is slow to start out with, and concentrates a lot on Billie Jean's attraction and affair with another woman while still married. But it really picks up after an hour and did a good job showcasing the circus this event had become. Steve Carrell and Emma Stone were both great in it, really tried hard to portray the tennis stars they were playing honestly, and they just had to have practiced a lot to get the match right on court. Good job by both of them.
crazyrees Well sure the movie was about women's rights. The movie description in imdb that described the movie should have also stated the movie was about promoting homosexuality. The movie was about how Billie Jean was the first athlete ever to come out.
conormerriman-59935 I liked this film, but it was quite cliché. Anyhow I do recommend watching and playing tennis occasionally. Have a good day
lebernards I could only make it thru 45 agonizing minutes of this "movie" ... bobbing for apples in a deep fryer woulda been more fun.
