Grew up watching; and loving this movie. While the lore was kind of overly forced, (which left my parents totally confused) I was able to follow it no problem as a five year old. This is a wonderful tale of friendship, sacrifice and drama, all tied together by lovable characters. I feel motivated to write this, after seeing the truly shocking mess that was 'Bionicle 2' and after seeing that the user reviews for THAT were overwhelmingly positive, and better than this, I felt compelled to intervene here. The sequel confused and messed up all the lore put out in this movie, and had none of the heart or friendship. Watching Bionicle: mask of light will be an utter delight for young children, and adults alike. Assuming you are willing to buy into the lore and universe without resistance (which a child is)this film will be an utter hoot. With the fun and exciting concept of 'Koli' at the beginning, right up to a cool, half and half fused Bionicle at the end, the simple and exciting plot will enthrall both young and old. Don't bother trying to watch the confusingly numbered prequel before going into this, as it will only leave you bored.I have seen many people here comparing this movie to Lord Of The Rings, which I am pretty sure they are only saying because IHE said it. This could be slightly true I suppose, but this is far more entertaining, action packed and fun than LOTR. It is an abridged version, with all the boring scenes removed. The scene in the cave with the blue plants still gives me goosebumps to watch, with the cool villain's voice. If you want a fun, silly and entertaining time, watch the only true Bionicle movie, THIS ONE.

Though I can enjoy this movie at certain bright points in the acting, it is not an original storyline. The whole conclusion of my fandom for the first Toa was not very satisfying, but I liked it. I hope Lego can do better in story and in acting in the future. I must say the visual fire-works were amazing. I don't think anyone could boast of doing better. If criticism was cattle, I'd have a herd for this movie. But there were bright points that were worth the painful while. Michael Dobson probably had the best vocal performance out of all. His Kopaka was what balanced the good and bad performances in the film. Here comes the criticism. My main animation criticism is the gestures mostly of Tahu. Tahu was very womanly, in gestures and lines, and I found it a little amusing. Pohatu and Onua seemed to wait a little too patiently for each others lines. Gali overacted by minor degrees. Lewa was good and basic, and a little Mata-nui religious. Takua was a little over dramatic at times, but that was expected. Kopaka had a few flaws at first meeting. Music was cunningly Bionicle, and it is one of the highest rises, and you forget it is there, which smooths out rough spots. All of it together makes a feast for longing fan eyes, but not always their ears. This is a story for the faint of heart. This is Mata-nui's Lord of the Rings.

Not a terrible film -- my 10 year old boy loved it, and he would be the target demographic, so I guess they hit the spot. Pretty dull for an adult though.Hard to relate to animated lego characters, even mod high-tech ones.I thought the choice of the three great virtues of the Bionicle world was a bit odd -- unity, duty, and destiny. Am I the only one who thinks those sound just a bit fascistic? Especially destiny. What about freedom, equality, justice, etc.?Oh well, it will sell Lego. Kind of dull for a movie, but not bad for a 74-minute advertisement. Could have been a lot worse.

I don't get can someone please explain it to me? I am 9 years old, I buy the toys, I just can't believe that we never got to see a Bohrok in the movie, well sort of, but frozen in ice. This movie was below average kinda like Kangaroo Jack level. It was boring that I almost fell asleep and I watched it before 7pm! It was such an easy plot to follow parts of it was like Lord of the Rings with two little Bionicles taking a Mask to somewhere just like Frodo and Sam with the ring. I could have made a better movie using my toys and spent less money on it. One good note about this movie I found out from the previews that George of the Jungle 2 is coming out next month.
