alexac-07156 It's about the bad boys and the good girls *surprise*. Yes, it's all black and white here. Was hoping to watch something fun about adventurous women, but this rather makes me ashamed of being female. Why is it that in every movie women have to be plain stupid? My advice to you is don't waste your time... move on.
Tss5078 Black Rock is one of those rare films that was written by, directed by, and starring the same person. Back in the early days of film, this was common, but today it's rare. While I admire all the work a single person puts into such an effort, the truth is that most of these films turn out to be a little strange, Black Rock is no exception. Three life long best friends decide to reconnect on a weekend retreat, to a small secluded island, where they had a lot of childhood memories. Once there, they run into a pack of hunters. Testosterone and alcohol mix, leading to a vicious assault, leaving one group a member short, and the other group on the run. Katie Aselton is the Writer, Director, & star of this film and while I admire what she put into it, the truth is that it was very predictable and didn't make a whole lot of sense. First of all, these three women, as children were allowed to play on a secluded island in the middle of nowhere, without supervision? It also doesn't make sense that the hunters would be there, when there was seemingly no wildlife, and of course there had to be exactly three of them. Finally, why did three women, spending a weekend alone on a secluded island, bring enough alcohol to fuel a Todd Phillips movie? The whole thing was just a little too weird to be believable, and when you add how predictable this film was, it's just a recipe for disaster. The one thing I liked was the performance of Jay Paulson. He's usually a guy who gets bit parts and guest appearances here and there, but he was very solid and the most believable of the six characters. Aside from that this is a slow, painfully predictable, mess of a film, that really doesn't have a whole lot going for it.
DGKRocks This film really isn't bad or anything, it just wasn't done properly. The choice of the 3 lead actresses were very good in my opinion, and the main antagonist was good as well, and I really liked how they made him look like a psycho. Now the one thing was the death of Kate Bosworth in the film. (I'd prefer if she didn't die but that's another story) I believe her death wasn't good, or dramatic enough. They should have at least made it dramatic and not just forget about her. Now that that's out of the way, if you watch the trailer, then you've basically seen the move in a few short minutes. The trailer gives away too much, by seeing the trailer, you can pretty much just figure out all the things you haven't seen, which are basically just extra, and the movie was pretty predictable as well.
charmed_p3-705-447018 I really enjoyed this movie! I don't see why it has such bad reviews! I think the plot is really great because it's believable! First off, the whole 'rape' scene happens all the time. A woman leads a man on thinking she wants what he wants and changes her mind about it before it goes too far. Man doesn't take no for an answer. Secondly, just because the men are vets doesn't mean the writers of this movie are anti-veterans. There are A LOT of veterans that have PTSD and other terrible things that are wrong with them after serving. Especially these men who have served 2 tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Personally, I believe two of the men may have underlying problems before their traumatic experiences. The guy who tried to rape Abbey and the other white guy. (Sorry I can't remember any of the mens names)Either way, I read a lot of reviews talking about how it's anti-vet and I just don't see it that way. I think the story is believable and there were boobs. Nice boobs. #worth
