Spoiler alert: I didn't just like the movie, I loved it when I was a kid and love it still, it's so funny still, that's the point of comedies and genres before you watch a movie look up the genre of the movie. This movie was in the comedy section, not a combination of genres, just one genre only which is comedy in and of itself. and I like the part about the little girl, Chelsea(i think that was the characters name played by the blonde hair girl), when she said, "Hammerman's suck" now that's hi-lar- ious, cosidering she was probably like what, 11 or 12 when those cuss words are usually reserved or were reserved for the adults only back in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's but in the 90's i'm pretty sure parents loosened up quite a bit, but in today's age not so much. And another thing, i liked was when mr. miller(andrew and bucky's father) picked her up and ran toward the carpool or van and she said, I'm getting motion sickness stop. that was funny as well and to all of you who hate film get into the comedy genre and you'll see how hard it is to make a film, the trailer itself could be better and most of you reviewer probably was a hostage situation that probably actually had a gunshot, if there was a gunshot in this movie it would have probably been rated pg-13 or rated R. which means kids would not have been able to watch this movie until they were teenagers in the freaking' first place. and what was this movie rated, not rated, or g-rated, or pg 12 or pg.

As a kid, I had no knowledge of Cinema. I only relied on Cartoons and Comedies like 'Carpool'. I remember enjoying myself while watching 'Carpool' back in the late 1990's. Now when I saw it on TV after all these-years, When I itself started to watch films like 'Ben Hur', 'Casablanca' etc, I consider this 1996 flick to be a weak effort.'Carpool' is not a terrible film, but it's not good either. However, Kids of my age back then, enjoyed themselves. In terms of 'Screenplay' & 'Direction', this flick offers nothing magnificent and I can confirm you that the Makers didn't intend to make a 'milestone' film anyway. Their intension was to make Kids laugh, and of what I remember, the kids did.Arthur Hiller's direction as well as the screenplay offer nothing great. For some reason, Tom Arnold won a Razzie-Award for Worst Actor for his performance in here, while David Paymer delivered a truly good performance. David Paymer is amongst "the" most under-rated actors of his time. The kids did a fine job.On the whole, A film that never will be talked about, and I guess it never even wanted to be Evergreen.

After I saw Big Bully, I never thought I would see a better comedic performance. But I am glad to say that Tom Arnold proved me wrong. The rest of the cast just sits back and goes along for the ride in this film. David Paymer works so well with Tom Arnold that I wouldn't be surprised to see them as the next Abbot and Castello. This movie hits on all cylinders. 10 out of 10.

From Tom Arnold, I never expect much, considering his background. (Roseann Barr's manager/husband, who sprang from the same Colorado trailer-park roots). Even so ..."Carpool" tries to be an energetic circumstance-comedy, yet it winds up vacillating between frenetic and dull. When nothing is happening, you fall asleep, and when too much is happening, you wonder what all the fuss is about. Not worth going into more detail, but worthy of remark is the sad fate of Rod Steiger, who finds himself in his sunset years being bundled in with no-talent hacks like Arnold. David Paymer isn't bad either, but ... Rhea, why are you here? You'd think Danny could find you something better.
Oh, well. I gave it three stars (with two of them being a nod to Rod Steiger for his unrewarded role in "The Pawnbroker"). However, I had to subtract two for being any movie with Tom Arnold in it. Then I added one once more for Paymer's brave attempts to keep things afloat. Net result = 2
