A bickering couple drive fast through a downpour to catch the last ferry to their island retreat. In a flash, they recognize a crumpled body laying at the side of the road and after much argument they stop, only to find a young man battered and bruised. An offer of summoning the police firmly rejected, the two help the man as best they can although it certainly means missing the ferry... and so starts this thriller: a tale of twisted sexual attraction and ulterior motives.

Petia Vladimirova Well, I expected to end in absolutely different way, I mean like someone cuted half hour from the movie. I expected David to try to revenge for the death of his wife. Nowhere in the movie the name of that guy is revealed, it's kinda mysterious, but annoying too. It's unusual to invite someone in your house, be attracted by him and cheat to your husband with him, and never know his name. The fight in the kitchen was unusual too, they showed his face just at the end. You expect the guy must feel awkward when man and woman fight because of him, but no, not even a sign he was there. And so at the end he gave her the other shroom, the poisonous one? Just because of her husband? It's not the end I expected, and not the end it should have this movie ended. The idea is great, the performance - not so good. You have to guess the things, because they never happen and you never could see them. I gave it 3 from 10, just for the idea. I am a big fan of Alan Rickman and Norman Reedus too, but that end got you a few points from the vote too, not usual, not normal, not... Just not!
Nobleware Dude, I thought this movie rocked. Perfect for just sitting around alone and watching at like 3AM with just you and a bottle. The whole time you are watching it you are thinking WTF? What's gonna happen next.... dude just get with the chick already. Alright..... they are pickin mushrooms... this is odd... but kinda creepy cool. Damn this whole movie has an erotic dirty naughty cold evil undertone to it... it's subtle dance just keeps you drawn to it... you're just waiting for someone to get whacked. But damn... WTF!? You get that and then some. For the morally enraged stomach it is great running to the toilet to barf material. Any movie that can get that kinda reaction out of you deserves an award.
Ale_XS "It's funny your worst nightmare always seems so far away!" Dark Habour's characters, a married couple (Alan Rickman & Polly Hunter) and a vagabond (Norman Reedus), are slipping into a game full of hidden sexual energy and treason. Now-and-then tantalizing breaks increase the tensions and give much space for interpretations. Good acting and a story which, if not using the brain, will leave you in confusion. You have to watch it twice at least. The very strength lies in its unconventionality and in Alan Rickman, of course. Those who love him will love this movie. Conclusion: It is not a typical prime time movie but Well Done !
vikitoria This was an interesting study in societal sexuality, as well as the "dark interests" of man. While I can't say the wife was a strong character - she was the wrong choice for the part, in my opinion - she was a rich kid in search of escaping her drool life. She was a rebel in fact, and never fully matured for her husband, a lawyer (Rickman). It's obvious he married her for her money and to cover his sexual desires, which is taboo. Rickman played his part to a tee, his flirtations with the young man, and very subtle undertones of gayness. The young man was gay to the hilt! When he did Marilyn impersonation that should have told the wife everything. He was perfectly cast as well. He has hustler written all over him.I was not crazy about the ending, as I knew what was coming. Overall though, the acting from Rickman was great, Reedus was good, Walker was okay but I had misgivings. For a gay themed movie, it was average, but not blatant at least. It's worth viewing if you don't have "Truly Madly Deeply" lying around for a spin.
