thegirlwiththeblackcrown The moment I saw the cover of this film I said to myself "This is going to be a 'new turn' on a TV movie, but like majority of these types of TV movies, it will fail in the long run". But to my surprise, I saw the film as a big success, conquering in originality and humor. Pros: The movie had a well-balance of humor and action. Neil Patrick Harris's humor was brilliant but not overdone as well as the action in the film. And surprisingly, Nathan Fillion was the lovable cocky jerk whom I thought stole the show. The songs used in the film were catchy and fun. Also, who knew a harmony between Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris would work so well?I can't compare the plot to anything I have seen before because in all honesty, there has never been a plot I've seen so close to it. This is a rare film in which the audience will cheer the a lovable villain during his journey. With only a 45 minute run time, the story goes over a lot without a drag to the film. Cons:Although the plot is great, I feel that there is a significant amount of plot holes in the storyline. I definitely pose questions about Dr. Horrible's and Captain Hammer's life and hope both character's stories will be unraveled in a sequel or prequel. Conclusion: This film is great for ages over 12, and is enjoyable for the whole family. I give this film a 7 out of 10 because of it's original but lacks in detail. I highly recommend this film if your looking for a quick humor and melodious movie.
kak32446 Kimberly Kmit Peter Faziani Eng- 151 November 15, 2012 Dr. Horrible's Horrible Short Blog I personally felt that Dr. Horrible sing along blog was silly. There were three main characters in the blog. Dr. Horrible who poses as an evil scientist, Captain Hammer who poses as the good guy, AKA, superhero and Penny who is comes across as very immature. Penny appears to be, very easily persuaded by others. The blog comes across kind of childish. Dr. Horrible wants to pull off a heist to obtain the wonderflonium which is the final piece he needs to complete his freeze ray gun. Dr. Horrible wants to stop time so he can take over the world, and be admired by his evil hero Bad Horse. Dr. Horrible has a terrible crush on Penny, whom he see's often at a local laundry mat but is too shy to introduce himself and talk with her. It seems rather silly for an evil scientist to be a character that is too shy to talk with a girl. Dr. Horrible was right in the middle of his heist for the wonderflonium, when Penny approaches him asking for his assistance regarding a homeless shelter that requires so many signatures for approval and his shyness looked more like stupidity to me. Captain Hammer swooped in and came across as though he had saved Penny from the fast moving van while throwing Penny into the trash to act as though he was moving her out of harm's way. Which Dr. Horrible was controlling the van with his remote control. Dr. Horrible actually stopped the van.Captain Hammer and Penny started dating and that is when I thought the movie got cheesy. I am not a musical movie watcher so it totally lost my interest at this point. Captain Hammer started to try and portray himself as a hero who does good things for people. I see him as being stuck on himself. Looking at himself and flexing his muscles. Captain Hammer's whole personality came across fake to me. I guess because I really do not care for people of that nature maybe it turned me off the entire short movie. The movie just seemed immature to me. It only seemed to get worse as it went on. All the people acting like he was some big hero and for what? What did he really do? I really did not see what he did that made him such a big hero. I thought the ending was sad. I really did not see Penny dieing as the way the blog would end and Dr. Horrible acting like nothing else mattered without her. I have watched worse movies but I would never watch it again just because. This review is my opinion and I am sure there are people who enjoyed it.
Alyssa Earhart Joss Wheldon's "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog" was exceedingly interesting to watch. The movie was about an evil scientist who falls madly for a girl he hardly knows. They finally start talking and a perfect, strong, handsome super hero comes along and sweeps her off her feet. Throughout the entire movie Dr. Horrible longs to be considered a "super villain" and be recognized as a threat by the other villains'' of the world and more specifically the "Evil League of Evil". He also longs to be desired by the girl he fell for. He sees that the superhero isn't good for her, but is just trying to find a way to get the girl to see this. I think the whole concept of this movie is great! It might seem silly to some people but the "cheesiness" of it makes it all the more better. The singing in the movie actually helped to make clear what each character was feeling/thinking at each specific part in the movie. The diverse attitudes of the characters added an interesting flare to the movie as well. For example Captain Hammer (played by Nathan Fillian) was clearly used to getting everything he wants, and for Dr. Horrible (played by Neil Patrick Harris) things never turn out the way they are supposed to. Overall I think that this movie was fantastic! I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a little comedy once and a while!
dwagner2239 Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is comprised of three acts, lasting around 14 minutes each. In the first act Dr. Horrible is trying to become a super villain and get recognized into the Evil League of Evil, which is led by Bad Horse. He is also in love with Penny, who he met in the Laundromat. And being as shy as he is, he hasn't gotten the courage up to talk to her yet. In order to be a part of the Evil League of Evil, Dr. Horrible has to pull off a major evil act or he will not be voted in. With his luck, as he is trying to steal the Wonderflonium that is needed for his Freeze Ray, he runs into Penny as she is trying to solicit people on the street to open a homeless people shelter. Just when Dr. Horrible thinks the robbery is completed, his nemesis, Captain Hammer, shows up and begins taking credit because he thought he stopped him in the van with his bare hands. Shortly after this, Hammer and Penny start singing to each other. In the next act, Dr. Horrible is watching them while they are on their dates. The scene goes back to Horrible and Penny talking in the Laundromat and she tells him she is going to go out with Hammer again. This is completely upsetting Horrible. So, Horrible is now back to his blog telling how he is now going to be a part of the Evil League of Evil because he has the Freeze Ray and Wonderflonium. Then he finds out that the LAPD and Hammer are watching his blog and knew ahead of time he was going to do evil and stopped him from succeeding. Now, Bad Horse calls Dr. Horrible and says the only way he can become a part of the Evil League of Evil is to assassinate someone. The story goes on to show Penny and Horrible talking again int he Laundromat when Hammer comes in and tells him his plans with Penny to make him mad and jealous. In the final act, Captain Hammer speaks at the opening of a homeless shelter where they are going to reveal the statue of him. He is bragging about himself and Penny tries slipping out from embarrassment. While he is still singing, Dr. Horrible blasts Hammer with his Freeze Ray and freezes him as the audience sits in shock. Horrible then taunts the audience and announces that they can't recognize that Hammer's cover is being blown and then he exposes a more deadly gun, the Death Ray. Horrible then aims it at Hammer, but the machine died and at that moment Hammer became unfroze and knocked Dr. Horrible to the ground. Hammer shoots Horrible with the Death Ray and it knocks him back and some of the shrapnel flies into Penny and she ends up dying. In essence, Dr. Horrible has committed the assassination needed to be voted into the Evil League of Evil. The story ends with Horrible wearing his new red coat and going into the room to sit with the other Evil league members, who he is now a part of.
