John Firth Fantasy Mission Force is complete lunacy. By any sane reasoning, it's absolutely dreadful, but it's nevertheless ridiculously entertaining. Jackie only makes brief appearances, and Jimmy Wang Yu thankfully stays off screen for most of the film. The film never once makes any sense, and the "humour" is dreadful even by the standards of lowbrow 80s Hong Kong/Taiwan. It being subtitled rather than dubbed made no difference whatsoever. It's definitely a film to laugh at, not with, and I really wouldn't have it any other way. Were it a slightly better film, it would just be another generic low-budget action film. Instead we have a film that rivals Ed Wood for sheer ineptness and resembles a Chinese take on the bizarre post-Apocalypse movies that came out of Italy after Mad Max hit big.
Jonathan Tsang I've got good news & bad news.Fantasy Mission Force (English Title) falls between a homage to HK cinema of the time and a strong parody of North American action. Despite the opening title cards, this is not a Jackie Chan vehicle. This is in no way a discredit to the film, as the opening credits are a prize in itself. The movie shrugs off any subtly with it's plot explanation and jumps right into the round up of the 'all it's own' task force. Comprised mostly of highly specialized criminals & ex-military, the team makes it's way across the world to rescue government officials from the Japanese.Danger 5 + Expendables + Hot Shots! Part Deux = This 1982 classic
gangstahippie Rated NR(Would Be Rated R for Violence and Brief Nudity). Quebec Rating:13+ Canadian Home Video Rating:14AI got fantasy mission force along with master with cracked fingers on VHS about five years ago.Don't be fooled by the cover saying that Jackie Chan stars in this film.He is only in the film for a couple of scenes however the scenes he is in are great and (spoiler) him and his business partner are the only ones in the film who do not die (End of spoiler).Jackie Chan may not be in this film very much but its still not too bad. This isn't really a kung fu film. Its more of a crazy action film with zombies, amazon women, men in kilts etc.THere are a couple of fight scenes but this isn't really a martial arts film. Its pretty funny how they have amazon women even though this film takes place in the 1940's.The film is about a couple of people in 1940s china during world war 2 looking for gold. However during this they get into plenty of misadventures.Fantasy Mission Force is a wild crazy movie and you just have to see it to believe it.But this is not a Chan film.Runtime:90min 7/10
Peter (fineanimal) Wow. Reviewing this movie is like reviewing someone else's hallucination. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to it, no way to even know what I just saw, let alone how to describe it. It makes Yellow Submarine seem as coherent as Schindler's List. You owe it to yourself to watch this movie. Because you will sit in utter amazement, gaping throughout, wondering to yourself how, how is it possible that human beings could, or would, produce something this unbelievably awful. And at the same time you'll simply marvel at just how entertaining whatever this is, is.I give this movie 10/10, but only because there is nothing else like it on earth. It is so... unique, you just have to experience it before you die, or you will never have really lived. Like love, or a bad fever, no one can explain it to you, you just have to endure it yourself. The only relevant description I can offer is this: even the venerable folks at Mystery Science Theater 3000 never had the stamina to take on a film like this, but you can sure bet they wanted to. Enough said.Oh, and it has Jackie Chan. Sort of.
