jfgibson73 This movie had such a strange tone to it. It resembles a teen comedy, but from the marketing, it's easy to mistake it as a family film. It somehow ends up being very chaste while pushing the limits of the PG-13 rating. The way the scenes play out have a very odd timing and delivery; I think that on paper, it would read as a pretty clever script, but often feels clunky and amateurish in execution. So the result was that there were a lot of times I was ready to laugh, but as a scene unfolded, ended up more confused by the unusual choices. The Nickelodeon brand adds to that confusion, being that parents expect to trust it for family entertainment. I think a strong director with a good sense of who the audience was for this movie could have made a little bit better film.
suite92 The film is about: a teen-aged nerd girl growing up, thinking about college, boys, school. The film is about: a single mother's attempt to have romance with two kids on hand. The film is about: losing a pudgy, mischievous, pre-school aged boy on Halloween night, then trying to find him.How well do these themes fit together?Joy is going to a party with Keevin, so she assigns Albert to Wren. Unfortunately, Aaron Riley invites her to a party. Looks like conflict of interest. Even before the party, she loses Albert in the first haunted house they go to. Albert makes his way around on his own, oddly enough. Albert hooks up with a convenience store clerk. Wren just misses him, but spends time with some of her fellow teens, mostly Roosevelt. The clerk fouls up and gets his car towed; Albert gets into the car as it's towed, since his jackalantern full of candy was in it. Wren targets the chicken place, since Albert loves it. Unfortunately, they take a slow route, and he evades them. Roosevelt's 'borrowed' car breaks down. They just barely miss Albert again as Galaxy Scout intercepts him. Roosevelt screws up royally, and backs the car into the chicken building, and knocks the huge, animated chicken off the top of the building onto the car.Joy finds that the host of the party Keevin invited her to lives with his parents, and most of the attendees are quite definitely younger than she is. Galaxy Scout takes Albert to the party where Joy is. Unfortunately, he leaves with the enormous scumbag (Joergen) who stole all his Halloween candy. The clerk sees the scumbag with Albert in the back of his convertible. Joy gets to know the hosts of the party, which is weird, but is a bit therapeutic for her. She goes home and sees that Wren and Albert are not back yet.Does Wren get Albert back from Joergen? Do Wren and Roosevelt ever clear the air?-----Scores------Cinematography: 10/10 Looks good.Sound: 6/10 No particular problems. Stupid incidental music.Acting: 6/10 Thumbs down: Jackson Nicoll, Chelsea Handler, Thomas McDonell, Johnny Knoxville. Thumbs up: Thomas Mann, Riki Lindhome, Jane Levy.Screenplay: 6/10 The basic ideas are okay, but it might have been better if Robert Altman had written and directed it. In less capable hands, this did not work all that well. There were too many balls in the air. Most of them dropped to the ground.
Paul Magne Haakonsen "Fun Size" is a fun movie if you are a kid or a young teenager. However, the fun starts to wear off once you get out of your teens and watch this movie. Yeah, this is first and foremost a movie for the younger audience. The story is about Wren (played by Victoria Justice) whose Halloween plans becomes complicated and the evening turns out entirely different from what she had planned. Not only doesn't she get to hang out with the cool guy from school at a party, but she also loses her younger brother and end up having to run from two bullies chasing her and her friends in their car.Overall, then for a young audience, then "Fun Size" does have its laughs and moments. But being out of the target audience age group, the movie wasn't all that enjoyable for me. Now, I am not saying that the movie is bad, far from it. It just appeals to a certain group in the audience.Actually the performances put on in the movie were quite good, and people were doing good jobs with their given roles. Lots of good chemistry between the various people and their characters.Fun for those younger viewers, and I am sure that this is something great to watch for that particular age group. The movie sort of have that early Lindsay Lohan touch to it when she was around 10 years of age and making these particular kind of movies. So if you enjoy light comedies, then dinner is served...
fedezucchi-rs This movie is hard to describes. There are sad and romantic moments put at the end of it and comic moments for the rest of the movie. The kind of comedy used in this movie is particular because we can find ''American Pie's sense of humor'' (as the chicken behind the car in the fast food scene) or humorists expression and actions made by little spider man (that are my favorites). In my opinion the movie had to cut of the sad part that is interesting itself but that loses its meaning in a fun movie. The fact that there are these 3 topics all together makes this movie ordinary as any other American movie of this kind. The character of the mother is really interesting! Those minutes in which she says more or less everything about her life during the Halloween party, when she sits in the living room, is so emotional because we can see how the revolutionary mum who goes to party and stuff...changes completely, and we see the reason of that attitude and is my opinion it was a really good moment to develop in a great way!
