tles7-676-109633 The movie is an incoherent mess. The movie actually has no ending. The kid is whako and the parents leave it at that. None of the visions make any sense or is explained in a way that doesn't make you laugh. The father's head is cracked open and recovers without even a band-aid.As suggested in other movies: The kid should have killed the doctor, the father who doesn't even seem to have a concussion should have started having visions from getting whacked in the head, the mother should have been committed to an institution (hopefully with an accompanying nude scene). The kid then gets cured at some point by re-engineering his genes. He is now living serenely with the father who now calls himself "Zach". The picture ends with a freeze frame of his eyes lighting up like Michael Jackson at the end of thriller. Good night.
SnoopyStyle Paul (Greg Kinnear) and Jessie Duncan (Rebecca Romijn) are married celebrating their son Adam (Cameron Bright)'s 8th birthday. Adam is killed hit by a truck. Jessie's old professor Dr. Richard Wells (Robert De Niro) of The Godsend Institute offers to clone their son. After the new Adam reaches eight, he starts having nightmarish visions of another boy named Zachary.Even if I buy the premise, this thriller has no tension. The start is so low energy. The movie may as well start later in the story or compress the introduction more. It turns into some sort of ghost story but the investigation isn't that compelling. This is a second-tier horror movie without any thrills or frights. The solid actors are left with nothing good.
Falconeer While "Godsend" is no masterpiece, one cannot deny that the subject matter of this film; human cloning/genetic engineering is fascinating stuff indeed. This film is actually nicely crafted, and raises a lot of questions about the scientific and moral issues of cell cloning to recreate a 'duplicate' of an existing person. Who would not be tempted to accept an offer to have their recently deceased child returned to them, by some scientific miracle? Unfortunately for one young couple, their savior, (who comes in the form of a brilliant doctor portrayed effectively by Robert Deniro) has a hidden agenda of his own. The young son is killed at the age of 8. For eight years their child appears fine, until the anniversary of the cloned boy's death. Plagued by strange memories of his own death, the child, Adam begins to sink into a world of scary and confusing dreams and hallucinations, hinting at his previous life, and violent death. "Godsend" is not a flashy, bloody horror movie, but rather a slow moving, cerebral mystery/horror, that makes the viewer think, and wonder. Some might call "Godsend" Hollywood's "anti-cloning propaganda film," but whatever the purpose of this film, it is interesting and thought-provoking all the same. Worth a look for those interested in the subject matter.
toll-8 This movie was poor!!!!! Could not get into it from the start.........and when I finally did it ended. Also the end poor and obviously showing that the boy is still troubled by it all so was a pointless time to end, and the point with De Niro looking in the obituaries to find another kid was wrong...... Was he not there during the 1st cock up???? Best bit of the film was the church scene which the only bit that kept me entertained. The times they tried to make it scary didn't pay off either, like in the bath tub.... how many times have we seen something like that happen???? Totally expected. The plot was poor, Romijn acting worse and feel sorry for stars like Kinnear and De Niro, caught up in this shambolic movie, directed by an unknown. Avoid this film as only giving it a 2 out of 5 **
