mariondowning-427-469344 This movie was trash. It can be summed up by the one conversation where one of the friends admits to sucking his own d*ck. That is the beginning of the downhill rubbish included in this movie that's supposedly romantic. Two people meet (over an old style video game in a shop) and that is meant to be the basis for a great romance? People swearing constantly and talking about dry hump8ing? Rubbish movie deserves a negative rating rather than a 1.
Python Hyena Going the Distance (2010): Nanette Burstein / Cast: Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Christina Applegate: Total snore fest with absolutely no entertainment whatsoever. It regards long distant relationships and stars two talented actors playing two total morons. Justin Long and Drew Barrymore meet and fall in love playing the arcade games. From there they romance then Barrymore goes away and lives with her older sister and her husband while Long hates his job and hangs out with two idiots who drink much and use the washroom with the door open. Director Nanette Burstein previously made documentaries such as American Teen and The Kid Stays in the Picture. Romantic comedies are not working for her and if this film is any indication where she is headed then perhaps documentaries may remain her strong point. Long is given an embarrassing tanning scene where he neglects the goggles. Barrymore fares better but one wonders why her role contains no personality let alone why she would be interested in this guy. Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are suppose to be comic relief best friends to Long but for all their effort they just come off as desperate imbeciles looking for attention. Christina Applegate is above this pathetic garbage. She plays a woman whose sex life is reduced to her husband dry humping on her leg. Some may say that this film is about long distant relationships but its dull pacing, stupid situations and horrible production values render it a film where the only going distance should be to the nearest trash bin and lit on fire. Score: 1 / 10
juneebuggy Damn this movie made me laugh. I'm not generally one for the romantic comedies but this was very good. Original story, a whose-who list of fantastic secondary characters and genuine chemistry from two very likable leads in Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. I loved the sarcasm between them in their dialogue. The story here is about a guy and a girl who try to keep their love alive as they shuttle back and forth between New York and San Francisco to see one another. They know the odds aren't in their favour but they're going to try and make this work. There are many laugh-out-loud moments here but that sex scene on the dining room table with the husband right there, sitting in the dark, eating a sandwich and then the sister (Christina Applegate) later cleaning and tossing food that falls on the table just killed me. I will watch this one again one day 03.13
Alexander Moon I'm a hopeless romantic and proud of it. Unlike most men, I enjoy cute and touching rom coms full of cuddling, sweet words and good intentions. Drew Barrymore is quite the woman-child that are perfect to get featured in a sentimental fare. Sure she is also a "strong working" and "kick ass" girl of our times but at heart, you can see how sensitive she is.So I was expecting something sweet, funny and adorable, just like her...But this is the total opposite of those words.Trust me it's more an horror flick than a romance or comedy one. This is anything but funny, this is utterly embarrassing and the summit of toilet humor. It's badly acted (easily Mrs Barrymore worst performance ever), poorly written and has no soul at all.Do yourself a favor and avoid it like a plague and , instead, go for legit beautiful and touching rom coms with Drew Like "First 50 Dates" and the very funny and adorable "Fever Pitch" with the excellent Jimmy Fallon. You will thank me later !
