A lot of plots just keep getting written all over again. This is a story about a guy who is down on his luck. He moves in with someone, in this case his sister and her son. He wins their affection and does something to abuse their trust, but then he does something selfless and they realize he's really a good guy.This movie has been made over and over again. In this case it features the very unlikeable Eugenio Derbez who hasn't been funny since last decade. But it has Salma Hayek as the sister so I had to give it at least three stars for that. I'm a little disappointed in Salma. She doesn't need to do cheap movies like this.

I don't recall ever seeing Eugenio Debez before, but he and Salma Hayek put on a wonderful performance. Their timing works and they sell their characters well. The plot and pace move well and the feel is positive. I found this to be an uplifting movie. I don't speak Spanish yet, but I loved listening to the Spanish language dialogue with the subtitles on. This movie is very much worth the time. Good life lessons with characters that are easy to care about. I recommend it.

A light hearted, silly movie. Its a fun movie for when you aren't seeking an acting masterpiece. Better than many comedies that over reach for a laugh. Eugenio Derbez nailed his character.

Most comedies that have been released this year were pretty much horrendous and treat viewers like they have an IQ of -50. With that being said, How to Be a Latin Lover is a true breath of fresh air, it's been a while since a movie made me feel this good and it definitely deserves a higher rating that 5.8.The storyline is simple, main characters charming, writing witty, the acting is top-notch especially from Eugenio Derbez, the jokes are not forced which is a rarity nowadays and there are many laugh out loud moments that are nicely spread throughout the movie so it never loses momentum and becomes dull despite being almost 2 hours long.If you are looking for a quality charming feel-good movie don't miss this one and ignore all the bad reviews, fun is guaranteed.
