quiltedporcupine After watching In the Mix, I can safely say there's no way this belongs on a list of the bottom 100 movies. Sure, the plot is lame, and Dolly spends the first half of the movie being incredibly naive about the danger she is in, and I was able to guess the movie's bad guy after his very first line of dialogue, but it's not that bad. For those of you who are giving this one star and saying it's the worst movie you have ever seen, try watching some of the other bottom 100 films (particularly try ones that don't contain a non-actor celebrity trying to break in to acting) and you'll see what a bottom 100 movie really is.I'm not a fan of romantic comedies but the odd mix of romantic comedy and crime drama makes the film more bearable. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is a good movie, but it's certainly not as bad as everyone seems to think it is.
Anders Twetman "In the mix" combines two clashing stereotypes, Italian Mafia, and black hip-hoppers in what I believe is an attempt to be original, the result however is idiotic. Furthermore the director seems unsure about what type of film he is making, it's part romantic comedy, part Mafia thriller and a small part musician with big dreams. Bundeld together with the Mafia-hip-hop premise you get a film that is utterly ridiculous. Now, I could go on about the general silliness in just about every scene, I actually have timed notes detailing all of it. I could talk about the lackluster performance or the many thrown away plot threads but all of this would be superfluous, the words "Mafia - hip-hop rom-com thriller" should tell you all you need to know.
Raul Faust I feel so ashamed to spend 95 minutes carefully watching this film. I must admit that in the first minutes, it seemed to be decent and I expected it to be a regular popcorn flick; well, that's not what it turned out to be."In the Mix" fails in many aspects. First, it repeats the saturated formula of Romeo and Juliet that has been used in a thousand of generations of films. Second, the acting is very poor; Usher Raymond and Emmanuelle Chriqui should choose something else to do with their lives, because acting definitely isn't their thing. Third, it gets tiring when director is overly showing Usher's fitness; okay, he is a pretty boy swag that makes girls go crazy, but let them look for his shirtless pictures on internet. Stop marketing his look all the time. Fourth, there are thousand of cheesy scenes that we feel embarrassed for the actors-- and even for the characters. Fifth, that young girl pretending to be smart is one of the most ridiculous thing about this movie. I'll just not give it less than 3 since it entertained me in some scenes. Don't see it, given that it's basically a poor copy of Will Smith's "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" .
wrlang In The Mix is about a DJ (Usher) who does a gig for some old time family friends who just happen to be Italian mafia. Usher saves the life of the patriarch and is given the job of being body guard to his childhood friend and the daughter of the mafia boss Dolly (Chriqui - stunning) who he subsequently falls for and she he. The boss fights the idea and almost intrduces the DJ to some harp music. The DJ then saves the boss and his daughters life again for the save. With a super strong cast, the acting is tremendous and very natural, all the good old boys are there. The dialog is relatively fresh as it successfully merges diverse cultures. This is one that could be watched several times each year.
