bstro05 This documentary shows the extreme influence that newspapers had in shaping the United States of America. The Chandlers are a very interesting family who basically created the city of L.A. and through the L.A. times ran the city for a over 100 years. These kind of epic stories don't come along every day and this documentary is very educational in bringing the story of their family and paper to the public knowledge. This is also a very good film in that it helps me appreciate such classic films as Citizen Kane and All the President's Men and newer historical films such as Good Night, and Good Luck and Frost/Nixon. All of these films speak to the great influence of media (newspapers, TV, radio) on the public opinion in America and how the power of a few can effect the outlook of the masses.I highly recommend this film for anyone interested in History, the evolution of media, and the influence of powerful people on all aspects of life (politics, religion, society).
