Cemetarygirl I love this movie. In fact I cannot understand why The Craft was the one that most people say turned them on to Witchcraft. As this movie rocks. It is subtle, understated and extremely well acted and played out by the beautiful and talented Ms Chalke. She plays this role extremely well and kudos to Ben Foster too, another actor with a lot of parts in front of him. A great female role where the woman is not afraid, although willing to jump a few times (and who doesn't) The story was solid, a young woman moves into a house with her mum, the home of a Witch, burned by people who don't seem to get the irony of that. (Like its good to burn people and watch them die in pain, no matter what they have done)And this leads to going to a school where the cool just happened to be the ancestors of those who had burned the Witch. No wonder they are spooked (serves them right!)A place of small town minds even in the 20th Century with loads of chips and plenty of hidden secrets, in the hearts of these 'cool' kids. This is not a movie of body counts, or of blood and gore. Its about.....well watch it and see.
whpratt1 Sarah Chalke,(Sarah Zoltanne) has to leave Sunny California for a small town in New England and start her college year among a group of trouble makers, who for some mysterious reason give poor Sarah a very hard time. Sarah and her mother are staying in a very old house that has many tales from the past which most of the town people know about; and there is a certain curse that a girl named Sarah will return to their town someday and revenge the horror this person experienced years and years ago. This is an entertaining film, but keeps going around and around in circles and it becomes very apparent who the real trouble maker or makers turn out to be. You have seen films with a story line like this many times before.
LurkingFigure There is witchcraft and occult themes in this movie, so be warned about that, I don't promote that stuff, it's dangerous in real life! I saw this movie on Lifetime Movie Network. The movie left me with some questions, but I am slow to catch on to some things. I would not suggest buying this movie, it's not one of those kind of movies that you want to watch over and over and over, at least in my opinion. There is some good acting in the movie though. I particularly like Ben Foster as I am used to seeing him in that pre-teen Disney show "Flash Forward" Just beware of the witchcraft stuff, I can't stress that enough. As for the movie, if you're looking for "scream" and the such, this is not the place to look. Peace.
cindysky97 i thought it was a pretty good movie. It was a little predictable, but it definitely outlined the way the "in" crowd acts to outsiders. The script was OK, the dialog was a bit stiff. It had some funny moments. It was worth watchingjust to see Markie Post fall down the stairs. Great twist at the end, too!! I was so sure that the guy in the mask was Eric! The first clue that Sarah isn't an innocent was the cat. If you are a Sarah Chalke fan, i would watch just to see her play a spooky character. As far as Punky Brewster goes, she never did a good role after that, and this was no different. I just don't see her as a catty teen.
