Being an avid horror fan, I've watched plenty of poorly done B-Movies. This is not poorly made and is well done. I had overlooked it for two years based on it's cover appearance and lack of good reviews. Well this was one of those rare times I'm glad I watched the movie anyway. The reason I viewed this movie was due to a comment I found regarding the plot in a list of Lovecrafted Themed movies. I know this usually promises a movie will be even terrible but I was intrigued by the mention of a backwoods community worshiping a thing in a pit. This may be one of the best cult movies I've ever seen because it is told from the backwoods perspective of a member of the community that worships some ab-horrid thing that lives in a watery pit.Usually these movies fall flat when you see the thing in the pit. Not so in this movie. There are even a couple familiar faces including Sean Young a hotty from the 80's and 90's. If any of this appeals to you definitely check this movie out. You'll be impressed.

There is a lot to commend in this film, we don't start with a young married couple with children moving into a very expensive house they got half price. All the protagonists, already know the "horror" and the story starts in a unique place compared to the last hundred horror films I've seen.In fact due to its start and its premises I so much wanted this film to be good. But unfortunately that's all this film has to offer. The plot is weaker than a drop of whiskey in jam jar. The destination the same place a dead end road arrives at. Its as if the director and the script writers didn't really understand how good an idea they had.The cast do a great job of making real people without stereotyping, but they are ultimately let down by a very weak script in the third part of the film.I found the film ultimately boring and just didn't go anyway , just repeating itself a great idea just not used. This had a false start but its going in the right direction, lets hope the next generation of horror films go for braver and more original material, just like jug face.

I am a big fan of horror movies. I watched enough to know that this movie has no passion both in thriller and horror. DISAPPOINTING. I read good reviews in IMDb before watching it but then wonder, hell, were those who wrote it actually their crews or what? Anyone who is unrelated to this movie should be very very very disappointed when they watch this film. No awesome story line, predictable enough, no good actors/actresses, low budget (obviously), boring, no good camera effects, no good background music, nothing that can be counted as amusing. If I were to make horror movie about pagan gods, it should be more lines to write about, not only "hey, there ere ancient gods and here how their daily activities look like". Or at least they can make it to be more mysterious about what the actress/actor will do next, the audiences should be entertained like that.

I knew at first that this movie was a low budget and that was fine with me because some low budget movie are really awesome, but when I was watching this one, I thought at first it was going to be good low budget horror, but it changed about half way through the movie and I was disappointed. Maybe they will start improving on some low budget films and at least make the story line better.I hope the actors realized this in making the movie, I know the producers know they are not working with a lot of money but it has to be able to be real or at least feel real. If they would have re-shot the last half of the movie it would have been better.
