This is a story of humanized toys, which reminds me of Pixar's animation films because of the huge hit of Toy Story series. A cute little snowman in a snow globe tries to escape the snow globe and company with attractive mermaids who live with tropical toys.
As the easy songs is played on the background through the film, the film itself is very rhythmical and story goes with a good tempo. Although the snowman tries to escape in many ways and failed again and again, those changes of the actions with the certain tempo makes the film fun, and keep the audience expecting what the snowman do the next. The snowman cannot make it after all, and he ends up in the fishbowl, being stuck in his snow globe. The ending was a little bit rough in my opinion. I want the snowman to get out of the snow globe as the ending, because in that way, he can finally make his dream come true. He has tried a lot for getting out and hang out with mermaids, but his effort leads him to be worse trouble which he has to live in a fishbowl. I think the story will be better if it has more positive meaning that if we try something so hard, we can change how we are destined to be.

This short animation film is simply fun with the monotonous background music. A snowman in a snow globe try to get out of the globe in some ways. It's especially interesting for me that he hits his nose with a hammer. I've thought this is like "Toy Story". And then I can understand why I thought that because the director is the same as "Toy Story". I have such a snow globe, and I imagine there is a snowman who wants to get out in my snow globe. If so, I feel a bit sad although I don't feel sorry for the snowman in this film. He should and have to be there as you can see from the ending of it.

This is a Pixar's short animation film about a snowman in a snow globe. He tries to breach glass of the snow globe to meet a doll woman at summer area. This film was fun perfectly in a short time. The snowman struggles to breach in a variety of funny ways, and that was showed constantly. It is going to be spoiler so I cannot say in detail, the snowman takes unpredictable ways to breach. In addition, his facial expressions and behavior make him very emotional. Other characters in this film hardly change their facial expressions, so his changing stands out in this film. Furthermore, he shows his emotion efficiently by using his entire body.I cannot believe this film was made in 1989 – 28 years ago. Of course today's Pixar's 3D animation technology is tremendous, but 1989's Pixar's technology is good enough, I think so from this film. There are natural moving of characters, well-formed 3D characters and objects etc. I think it was hard to make this film in 1989 even if it is a short film. The story, the characters, and the technology, all elements of this film make this film wonderful one effectively. I reconfirmed how Pixar's 3D technology stands out from other 3D film makers by this film.

This is an early example of computer animation from Pixar and some years before their full length feature, Toy Story.John Lasseter directs Knick Knack where we see souvenirs or toys enjoying the sun. Palm trees, deck chairs, there really is a beach party going on.The one person not enjoying the fun is a souvenir from Alaska, a snowman inside a glass dome who is being beckoned by a girl in a bikini. He cannot stand it anymore and tries to break out of the dome but the glass will not break. Can he find an emergency exit door? This is an inventive and energetic short, nowadays the CGI does look a little bit crude, some of the lighting might be too brash but it paved the way for what Lasseter and Pixar were aiming to do a few years later.
