ottobathurst-153-254519 I have watched this film twice now - it is one of those rare gems that merits a second viewing - perhaps even a third and fourth?! The film is a powerful, searingly honest, very witty and deeply affecting portrayal of the greatest atrocity of the modern era. Elkan Spiller's intimate relationship with the subjects has enabled him to unearth the most beautiful proof of heart and soul twinkling brightly in even the darkest of places. The film is a shining testament to the all conquering power of love and a very poignant reminder that the Second World War (or any war for that matter) lives on way beyond the lives of the single generation that fought it. A must watch.
desiree-73921 Fantastic insight into a family that was and is deeply affected by war. As relevant as ever. Active war still affecting millions of people and the effects of life after war is effecting still many more millions. This movie offers a window of that reality to all those that sit comfortably in their homes and thinks it has nothing to do with them. War is a world problem and not just a nation's problem. Only by us all globally waking up from the stupor and changing how we live and treat each other will we bring change for all. This film is contributing to this foundational change. In my books this is a top documentary that deserves to be viewed globally. 10 out of 10.
