peteamend-01037 Bad writing that gives a bad name to bad writing.I suspect this was written by some hacks that were doing drugs or smashed out of their minds... or else trying to write a parody of bad f rate movies. I took it as the latter just to get through it.Perhaps it is supposed to be a comedy horror like "Scary Movie" but many of the characters are written so badly that it comes off as written by high school dropouts. The bad CGI and rubber monsters is laughable but probably not intentionally funny. SyFy has done many fun movies (like Sharnado) but they have smart, funny writing... this does not. It plays out as if someone had a few days to churn out a sequel and no real budget.I want to see an alternate scene where the kid slips, falls in the lake and is eaten in one bite. They SPOILER kill the dog but not the kid? Some of these characters are so stupid it is amazing they managed to be as old as they are. In a weird turn, the stupid kids somehow manages to transform into Magyver. I guess they wanted to redeem the stupid kid so he is suddenly is useful.Inane characters and stupider plot lines but a few glimmers of good dialogue every so often. Colin Ferguson and Michael Ironside do the best they can with the script and Yancy Butler gets in a few good lines but most seem like too stupid to be anything but croc snacks. Most of the time I am cheering on the crocs.Instead of just one giant croc, they have two large ones and several ones as they go after several groups (teens, croc hunter, family) where the plots intermingle.SyFy has lots of fun movies but this seems unintentionally funny (WTF type, not Simpsons or Scary Movie funny).
swiftjustice44 No, this movie will never see an Oscar BUT...who watches these movies and truly expects a high quality product? I find the poor quality CGI to be amusing. The entire movie was filmed on a budget of $2,500,000 in Bulgaria. A list actors get more than that for just their individual role. It's another fine example of a modern "B" movie cranked out by SyFy. It didn't drag, the acting wasn't cringe worthy and I didn't need to pause it if I needed to go to the bathroom. Pop some popcorn and enjoy...it is what it is...An inexpensive movie using modestly known TV actors and admittedly, riding on the coat tails of a franchise that is played out. Comparisons between this movie and the likes of a modern Star Trek movie just really isn't fair. It's a low budget movie which could fair favorably when compared with the original Godzilla or even the original Swamp Thing.
couchfrenchfry If you don't know what "tongue in cheek" means, do not watch this film. Personally I'd watch anything starring Colin Ferguson and Yancy Butler. You may know Colin as the sheriff of Eureka (SyFy Channel series) and Yancy Butler starred in the little known series Mann and Machine and Witchblade. Both actors have that special something that rivets the viewer's attention. As for Lake Placid 3, what do you expect? It's a second sequel to a silly film about crocodiles in a very northern lake. It actually takes place in Maine. Several hundred miles north of where any crocodile or alligator could survive. Obviously not to be taken seriously. Keep in mind that this is a summer comedy, relax and enjoy it for what it is.
Vomitron_G Silly second sequel to Steve Miner's original from 1999, this time about over-sized CGI-crocodiles eating a bunch of topless women with Michael Ironside, Colin Ferguson and a hard-boiled Yancy Butler out to slay the beasts. They're not really successful at this, resulting in a lot of casualties. The film's pretty much so dumb it becomes fun. Almost thankfully, it takes itself less serious than the previous installment, 'Lake Placid 2' (2007). The opening-scene of 'Lake Placid 3' features full frontal female nudity and sex on a muddy beach that ends in a croc-munching death of the couple. At least somebody knew what kind of film they were making.
