No Good Deed is an edge-of-the-seat suspense crime thriller! You will not be able to get up when you are watching this movie (although to be frank, there is nothing NEW in the story)!NOTE: Don't believe some stupid people who think the movie is Boring!The director, Sam Miller, has done a mature job of maintaining the aura of suspense in each and every scene. The Background Music and the slow Pace of the film, all contribute to transfixing the minds of the audience to the screen. In fact, I prefer this more than any noisy, rapidly-edited & fast-faced suspense movies.The Screenplay is Tight and Crispy!The Acting is very, very decent. But Idris Elba looks slightly friendly to be a heartless killer. Perhaps a beard, Hoodie and a wicked gaze would have done the trick.I won't say anything more for fear of giving away details of the movie (esp. a small twist towards the end). Just watch this Short, Simple and Suspense-ridden film in any movie channel of your choice.

lonely mother, invites a handsome car accident victim into her home. Desperate for a little attention, she doesn't realize she's entertaining a sociopathic, yet charming escape convict. In one terrorizing night her life completely changes as she fight for her own life and the life of her children in No Good Deed. Although it's over top and the leading woman makes some dumb choices like letting a complete stranger come over her house with kids inside for example but thanks to Idris Elba the movie doesn't disappoint as you might think it was alright and Taraji P. Henson was good too but remember you need to have low expectations.

No Good Deed is actually not a bad film as such, it sticks rigidly to a formula and has all the requisite requirements - however ridiculous - for a home invasion thriller, and does it competently. The problem is that it has absolutely nothing new to appeal to anyone who has been watching movies through the 80s and 90s.The 1990s was particularly a thriving hot-bed for such thriller fare, where some unhinged nut-case - male or female - would impose themselves upon some amiable good person's life, and then unleash mentally distorted hell upon them. Sam Miller's film is just a lazy retread of what has gone long before. Only he and his backers think that shifting the focus to black characters somehow makes it more vibrant. It doesn't.Idris Alba is a fine actor (in great physical shape as usual), and Taraji P. Henson is a more than effective actress, but the turgid screenplay on offer here does them no favours, where even an intended "big reveal" is hamstrung by the familiarity of it all. If one is fortunate to be of a youthful enough age and lucky enough to be viewing this thriller format for the first time? Then this works, it absolutely does. The more mature film lovers, however, will be jaded to the point of sleep status. And no, that's not meant to be patronising. 4/10

This thriller is actually quite a lot better than expected. Liked the way things tied up together. Doesn't always happen in this kind of thriller but here it does.Idris Elba is a charismatic lead villain and he may seem more of a hero than a villain at first but that is part of the story. Taraji shows an interesting transformation from naive bored housewife to woman who fights back. A couple of formula elements can't be avoided in this thriller eg the best friend and the cop. There is a twist in the race of the cast here with black leads and white supporting cast.Ignore the negative reviews, its surprisingly good.
