xahnegrey Also, swimming in the open ocean is always dangerous.. usually at least one person will watch for sharks.. they love to see what is splashing around on the surface.. also, a ladder or rope or both is always a must.. but really, all hands should never be in the water at once...so this crew was pretty stupid.. the ocean can kill you many ways... like everything else, if you ain't paying attention, life can sure make you pay.. these ninnies shouldn't have been in anything but a small neighborhood pool on floats.
vengeance20 Although this carries the same name as the first film, it's not a direct sequel, though it has roughly the same premise as the first with a difference in how they're stranded out at sea in the first place. The story is similar, but in this case, it's a group of young adults who go sailing out at sea for a sort of "Holiday Getaway" with sex, drugs & booze! But they stupidly forget to mount the ladder on the side of the boat for them to get back on! So the frustration here is the warm boat with food, drink & supplies in right next to them & the only thing keeping them from that, is a damn ladder! Pretty much like the first but with a different way on how they're stranded! The film like that first, wasn't great, it was pretty boring at points & didn't have much action going on. It was pretty much the first film only more people (younger) & a slightly different direction in the stranded theme basically! The blaming, the b!tching & the characters get on each others t!ts was present like the first one too, only in a larger quantity! There wasn't much going on. No sharks. No sea mines. No Gore & I mean full fledged gore! It was like the first one pretty much & being fair, as I'm writing, can't say anymore than what I've said as it didn't have much going on aside from a large chunk of the film revolved round the group b!tching at one another! It was annoying to say the least & the ending also with the female soul survivor was bad too. Now to say the least, this WAS slightly better. The premise was a bit more believable & somewhat better with a sense of sinisterness emitting from it, but it could've been better, much like the first which was lacking also.I overall would give this a 2/10. It was slightly better than the first film but only by slightly as much like the first, this film had little going for it & could've been so much better with action in it, even if it was bad CGI it would've been great, this goes for the first film too.
alantas I watched this film for the first time a while ago and for some reason I watched it again tonight. I have to say, that it is much better, than I remembered. The pivotal moments stayed with me, but seeing it again, left a stronger impression. The accident is so unbelievably dumb, that makes you think how easily we can get in dead serious trouble. All it takes is one irresponsible, dumb friend. In such a surreal situation disbelief and panic kicks in and I imagine, that staying cool and rational is a privilege of a very few human beings. Of course after seeing how the whole story plays out, it's very easy to be smart and to know better... The group dynamic in my opinion was well written. One nervous irrationally behaving individual can derail all the efforts of a team. And they had more of that kind, so failing at their attempts felt natural for me. This film makes you think about how easily faith can cross one's path and throw them the test of their life. In the end I felt a little drained seeing this all too human tragedy. Just as sad as the predecessor. Not an easy watch, but I would recommend it to people, who can place themselves in the situation and humble enough to know that they are not smarter than anyone else.
Chase_Witherspoon Watchable if at times frustrating tale of a six-pack of friends/acquaintances who find themselves stranded in the ocean unable to reach the deck of their luxury yacht after a moment of patent idiocy. Compounding the situation, one of the couples has an infant daughter still aboard the vessel, alas too young to fend for herself nor come to their rescue. The idiocy of the characters' response to their predicament is overwhelming - I appreciate a regular Joe/Jill's judgement would be impaired in such a situation, but the sheer scale and repetitiveness of this brainless behaviour is staggering. A cynical viewer might suggest the filmmakers conceived the most inept reactions you could make in the circumstances, and then made a movie showcasing that stupidity. Mistake after mistake leaves few survivors and whilst the methods are all unique, there's a conspicuously absent MO that disappointed me the most (though I won't spoil the surprise).Bares zero relation to its predecessor other than the tenuous concept of being stranded at sea, and whilst the panic and mood patterns displayed seem realistic, the situations are all clichés compounded by an ambiguous ending that disappoints. Not terrible, but falls short of expectations.
