The Couchpotatoes OSS 117, the French Sean Connery look-a-like, played by Jean Dujardin, is supposed to be a mixture between Austin Powers and James Bond, and this in a satirical way. The humor goes from subtile to blunt, and I'm sure is not everybody's piece of cake. I have to admit I laughed a couple of times, but not enough to make it a hilarious movie. I'm not a great fan of James Bond movies nor Austin Powers so a mixture of the two doesn't realy help. It's filmed like it could have been made in the fifties, and that was not realy necessary. The acting is exactly what to expect with this kind of movies, it's just silly and a bit of easy fun. But it wasn't great, at least not to me. I will watch the sequel just out of interest to see how it evolves, but I'm not dying to see it.

It stars clumsy Jean Dujardin as one man show accompanied by a gorgeous Berenice Bejo . The movie gets entertaining and hilarious moments here and there. This slapstick picture contains amusing , funny scenes , fresh and diverting moments but also flaws and gaps . Jean Dujardin steals the show parodying the ordinary international secret agent , James Bond-alike , including his ordinary faces , grimaces and gestures ; he plays stunningly the highly unorthodox agent, the inept and bungler secret agent from OSS . There appears two beauties as Berenice Bejo and Aure Atica . The actors seem to enjoy themselves immensely giving funny interpretations . Lively and atmospheric music by Ludovic Bource . Colorful and glimmer cinematography by Schiffman . The film was well penned and directed by Michel Hazanavicius that maintains the slapstick franchise . He also directed in similar style to the original film a sequel titled ¨OSS 117 Lost in Rio¨ with Jean Dujarjin , Rudiger Vogler and Louise Monot . Director and actors , Dujardin and Berenice Bejo , will repeat in the successful and recent ¨The artist¨ including Golden Globes and Oscars . Several chuckles and gags , the result of which is one acceptable entry on spoof genre . The flick will appeal to comedy buffs and Jrean Dujardin fans .

webstb08 What I liked about this film was it took the James bond 007 movie idea and made it into a comedy. I did not like the humor I found it to be corny and a little to dry.The Director Michel Hazanavicius Was born and raised in Paris. Started off in Short Films then moves on to the 0SS 117 spy movies.He is best known for The Artist it won the Academy Award best Picture and won him Best Director .He has won Countless awards for his films and the OSS 117 was nominated for a French Cesar for best writing and won 2 awards At the Seattle film festival and Tokyo Film festival. Two idea's I felt were raised in this movie are it does not matter how good you are it matters how hard you try. He is not the best Agent he seems to get into more trouble by getting killed and followed through out the movie. Another idea raised is you can not always trust a pretty face. He seems to let his attraction for women get the best of him which lead him to trouble through out the movie. I felt the music helped make the fighting scenes and movie funnier with the loud bang or drums and horns. It also help set the mood for being in Egypt. The action effects were not impress they were very staged you saw them coming which took away from the humor of the movie and what the director was trying to capture.

flapdoodle64 There are probably more spy spoofs than serious spy movies in the world. Most, like the execrable Dean Martin 'Matt Helm' series, are pretty bad and unfunny to boot. Only a few, like 'Our Man Flint,' and the 1st Austin Powers film, are any good.'OSS 117: Cairo Nest of Spies' is, subtitles and all, pee-your-pants funny. The lead is like a Gaullic Peter Sellers, except somehow all the funnier for being French. Seriously, this guy's comedic performance is so funny I could sworn I was high on weed, except I haven't been high on weed for 25 years.The writing, direction, camera-work and supporting cast are all top-notch. Superficially, this film has the look of a serious 1960's spy film, which is exactly the right thing to do with a spoof of this nature.Fans of classic comedy, especially of the great Peter Sellers, would be highly likely to enjoy this film. People who have trouble with subtitles, however, might have trouble so think about that if it applies to you.
