Prismark10 Rex has a reputation with the rest of the toys has a party pooper. When he is taken to the bath and left behind in the bathroom with the other bath toys. Rex sees an opportunity to flip his reputation to that of Partysaurus Rex.As the other bath toys do not have limbs, Rex turns the water back on and foams it up while the rest party to the beat until it all overflows.A nice funky beat and with neon visuals make this an enjoyable toy toon short.
Gordon-11 This animated short film tells the story of Rex who accidentally messes up his friend's party. He gets called "Party Pooper Rex" soon afterwards. Hence, he decides to become "Partysaurus Rex".The story is very simple, but it is really fun. The music is energetic and uplifting, the lights are psychedelic and there is even foam! The bathtub party is so epic that I wish I was there. Now I need to watch a film about epic parties of mega proportions!
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) I don't know what it is, but as much as I enjoy these full feature "Toy Story" films, as little I think of the many animated short films they added to the franchise. Basically all of the supporting characters got their own big moment. This one here has Rex in its center and after being called a party pooper, he starts a huge party in the bathtub with a new bunch of friends. That's basically all there is to it. There is no heart in this short film, no real emotion and the fun basically all refers to the bathtub being turned into a gigantic discotheque. The new characters are okay to watch, but not too memorable. Also we don't really find out a lot about them. The writer and director is Mark A. Walsh and even if he worked on several other famous films again, this is his first job in both areas. Maybe a bit more experienced filmmaker would not have hurt. This short film is entertaining on just not enough occasions, so I cannot really recommend watching it. I really hope that "Toy Story 4" (guess it's coming at some point) will be as good as the feature films again and not as mediocre as the short movies.
tavm So it seems that when Rex is with his regular Toy Story pals, he's often dismissed as a party pooper. So when his little girl new owner has to take a bath, she takes the dinosaur toy with her and he suddenly takes a new attitude. I'll stop there and just say this was quite another fun short from Pixar that brought a new take on one of the classic Toy Story characters which Rex's voice Wallace Shawn benefits from immensely. Certainly, those new bath toy friends certainly like him enough when he keeps the water flowing. Like just when things seem headed for something one way, an unexpected turn always comes. Really, all I'll say now is Partysaurus Rex was a fine short to watch before the 3-D re-release of Finding Nemo.
