A Goth girl is frustrated by her father's death and her mother's inability to collect herself after the passing of her loyal and loving husband. In a fit of fury, the girl takes seriously the Black Magic books all of her friends study and calls a demon forth called Pyewacket (one of the demons spoken about in Salem during the Witch Trials) to kill her mother. But the demon is smarter than the girl and pretends to have killed the mother and then masquerades as the dead woman. The teenager becomes confused, believing the body of her mother is real, when we know it was only Pyewacket pretending to be the dead woman. The Goth then encounters the sheer power of the demon while her mother is still away in the small town near where they live. She runs to the attic for safety, and the demon follows her in the shape of her mother. But is this really the demon? The girl thinks it is, and so takes a bucket of gasoline to her mother's bedroom--still believing her mother is dead--and douses the "demon" then sets it on fire. It turns out to be the girl's actual mother, and so insanity ensues as we see that Pyewacket has indeed done what it was summoned to do--kill the mother-- and then, as demons always do, has turned its ferocity on its summoner.

There is no plot, no point, no outcome and no justification for this being made at all. Absolutely awful.

I can't believe that this has such a low score. It's a low budget chiller that really delivers. A teenager casts a curse/spell on her mom. Then immediately regrets it.Simple plot line pulled off brilliantly. Excellent performances and tension that mounts until a satisfying ending.It may not be the fastest paced film ever but enough happens to keep you interested. It has a few great set pieces and the end gave me a genuine chill.I would have given this a solid 7 but gave it 10 to offset those who pulled down the score because they have no attention span.

I like supernatural horror, and I like 'slow burn' horror at that (never heard of this term until I read some of the other reviews). But it has to be done right. The main character is Leah, who is a troubled teen and part of a group of mallcore wannabe Goths. Her father is dead and she lives alone with her mom, who ofcourse she does not always get along with. One day her mother decided to move to a different place to erase the memories of her dead father. Leah does not agree with this because she will lose her wannabe Goth friends and decides to perform some evil ritual to get rid of her mom.... That's right folks, when your mother decides to move and you disagree with it, you simply kill her... right ?The first half of the movie is pretty tedious, with very little happening. The dialogues are dull and full of overused f-bombs. When the story finally gets rolling, it still barely gets exciting. The evil creature (or whatever it is) gets about 5 minutes of screen time.Overall, I feel this movie was a cross between teen drama and an attempt to be scary, at which it failed. While still better than the average slasher flick or Rob Zombie remake, I can't recommend this if you want to watch a real scary horror movie.5/10
