r-abrahams Arnold is still super fit, but MAN the amount of bad onliners!! It just doesnt stop... Not to speak of all the cliche's.
slightlymad22 Continuing my plan to watch every movie in Arnold Schwarzenegger's filmography in order, I come to Sabotage.Plot In A Paragraph: Members of a DEA task force find themselves being taken down one by one after they rob a drug cartel safe house. This was my first time watching this movie, and truthfully I honestly don't get the hate aimed at it. Arnie delivers one of the better performances in his career. OK, there wasn't a single likable character in the movie, and nobody to really root for but I thought the movie was OK!! I was seriously expecting to dislike it. Good actors like Terrence Howard and Joe Manganiello, and not so good actors like Sam Worthington (an actor I have never cared for) fill out the rest of the cast . Outside of Arnie, only Manganiello really stands out. He actually owns Arnie in a scene, before The Oak puts him in his place by grabbing him by the throat. It's not a great movie, and it probably doesn't have much, if any rewatchability factor, but it's not by any means one of Arnie's worst. I guess I'll be in the minority in not disliking it, but that's OK. Sabotage completely tanked at the domestic box office grossing only $10 million
nicholls_les It is going to be hard to find enough words to get this review published because this is one of those rare occasions that I turned off a film not long into it. The reason is that almost every other word was an F word. Why?It seems to me that people use foul language in movies far more than they do in real life. Sadly the younger generation now use foul language far more than anyone did when I was growing up. It seems a case of life following movies. Foul language is unnecessary and adds nothing to the story. I just think that it is lazy script writing and they think people like it.There have been many good action movies that do not think it necessary to have several swear words in every sentence so why do they do it?Anyway I am sure some people don't mind movies littered with foul language, I do and could not watch more than 20 minutes of this film.
Fluke_Skywalker With an $18 million worldwide gross and a %19 RT score, David Ayers' 'Sabotage' typifies Arnold's comeback. But unlike efforts before and since, I honestly feel this one gets a bad rap. It's a relentlessly grim and unpleasant film, featuring a cast of characters that are extremely unlikeable. So much so that before the plot kicked in I struggled to find any emotional purchase here. But once Olivia Williams' character is introduced and the dominoes start to fall, I found 'Sabotage' to be a well acted and intriguing mystery in the mold of Agatha Christie's 'Ten Little Indians'.Surrounded by a strong supporting cast, Arnold--who has looked either rusty or bored (or both) since his comeback--gives his best performance in years. But the standout for me was Olivia Williams, who is fantastic (dodgy attempt at an American by way of Atlanta accent aside). I loved the way her character was written, and she really steals the movie out from under her costars in the same way Tommy Lee Jones did in 'The Fugitive'. I desperately want to see an Investigator Caroline Brentwood movie. It certainly has its missteps and Ayer lays on the sleaze and gore to the point that they stop being effective and start to become comical, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed 'Sabotage', and unlike most of Arnie's recent stuff, I think it deserved a better fate.
