Tom's day at the beach doesn't start out well. First he gets his swimsuit caught in the door of the beach house, and doesn't realize it until his intended dive in the ocean sends him snapping back and crashing through the door. He runs out and tries again. This time he is so determined to jump in the water that when he does so, he doesn't notice the tide is out and that he is swimming in the sand, which is filled with broken bottles, tin cans and other debris. Later, he tries to win over a beautiful girl on the beach, but, being the boor he is, he annoys her by drinking her soda pop, eating her hot dog and munching loudly as he lays his head in her lap. Suddenly, a tomato flies through the air and lands on his head. So does a banana peel. Tom looks for the culprit and finds him in the girl's picnic basket. Jerry is inside, eating what he wants and tossing out the rest...

Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) "Salt Water Tabby" is an American cartoon from 1947, so this one is already over 70 years old, but still not among the oldest Tom and Jerry cartoons. Here the duo not only has to deal with each other, but also with a vicious crab and Tom is struggling to get an attractive female cat interested in him. It is all a day at the beach, but far from as chilly and harmonic as everybody may have wanted it to be. This cartoon is one of these where Tom also occasionally triumphs over Jerry, like the bottle scene, and where he is humanized enough to have no interest in catching Jerry, let alone eating him. All he wants is to get rid of him and have his calm and quiet and a sexy time with the woman (you can call her that I guess) of his choice. But no way he is gonna get it. I felt kinda sorry for Tom here. Even his honorable intentions to save somebody in danger in the water are just a prank being pulled on him by Jerry. Overall, story, comedy and wit are inferior in this one compared to many other T&J works. The animation and looks are still good enough and we should not take that for granted given the perhaps best era for animation when this was made, but it cannot make up alone for mediocrity in other fields. I give it a thumbs-down and don't recommend checking it out.

geddy-994-148454 Tom wants to enjoy a day at the beach with toodles, but jerry causes mayhem and for a while a green crab gets involved as well. Jerry bites through the cat's hand and locks him in a beach umbrella and then the crab goes into his suit and makes a flap in the suit, which consequently left tom's bum showing. Tom bites into a rock, drinks sand, gets trapped inside umbrellas, swallows an inflatable horse. Jerry hides inside a banana and ends tom's relationship with toodles when tom spits in her face, after being served salt water from the sea by the mouse. Jerry burys tom and when the cat digs his head out, he is smacked in the face by jerry with a small spade.

BA_Harrison Tom is spending a day at the beach, and is out to impress the sexy white cat who is sunbathing nearby. Mischievous Jerry, however, is determined to scupper Tom's plans.I love it when Tom and Jerry get away from their usual domestic setting to cause havoc somewhere new, and the seaside proves to be the ideal locale for plenty of inventive mayhem and violent hi-jinx: the cat and mouse get in trouble with a cantankerous crab, who is keen to use his pincers on the duo whenever possible; Jerry gets Tom to swallow sand, break his teeth on a shell sandwich, and leap head first onto a wooden post (which the cat is tricked into thinking is a drowning woman); Jerry is launched from a soda bottle into the sea; and Tom swallows an inflatable horse.

Antzy88 Tom and Jerry are on a beach, and Tom tries to get friendly (in a very surprising way!) with a female cat that is also there. The rest is the usual chases and stuff.This does not have much of a plot, admittedly, but the gags come thick and fast. And what gags they are! You barely get a chance to breathe before the next one happens most of the time!Take a look at it now!
