Smoreni Zmaj Thank God... Somehow I managed to survive third and fourth, I was thinking to quit, fifth gave me little bit of hope, but when I sat to watch this one I really wasn't optimistic at all and I was almost sure I'll give it up in first half and say goodbye to Saw once and forever. But this was pleasant surprise. I'm not sure if this movie really is good or I just lowered criteria terribly after watching crappy prequels, but now I'll definitely watch seventh movie and go to theater to see the latest one. Current order from best to worst:1. Saw I 2. Saw II 3. Saw VI 4. Saw V 5. Saw III 6. Saw IV7,5/10
CinemaClown After the disaster that was Saw V, it's quite surprising that Saw VI manages to bring back a bit of this franchise's original flair and is more enjoyable than the previous two chapters combined. The film is still marred by glaring issues but slight improvements in the script are able to give it a little edge over its disappointing predecessors.Continuing from where the previous film signed off, Saw VI establishes Detective Hoffmann as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw's legacy but when the FBI closes in on the traces left behind by his previous victim, he is compelled to set a new game into motion. The plot also contemplates the posthumous effects of John Kramer aka Jigsaw.Directed by Kevin Greutert, what's refreshing about this sixth instalment is that it attempts to aim for a compact structure and even though it misses the mark, what it ends up with is still sufficient to keep it afloat. Also, the story is more focused on the present than relying heavily on flashbacks, and the moral element is nicely integrated into its narrative. The booby traps & torture devices get further upgrades and the grisly violence & gore unleashed over the course of its runtime is stomach-churning at times but will be an absolute delight for the hardcore fans of the franchise. Performances are terrible but the moral dilemma these characters find themselves in makes the whole process somewhat interesting. On an overall scale, Saw VI is a welcome entry that nicely utilises the element of shock & surprise and concludes with a final plot twist that makes more sense than its past two instalments ever did. Much of it does feel repetitive but if Saw V left you with a bad aftertaste, then this sequel does the job of getting rid of it. Better than what I anticipated, Saw VI is the finest chapter since Saw III.
Davis P Saw VI is definitely a step up from 2010's Saw 3D: the final chapter. This film had better acting, still not great though. The storyline is pretty entertaining, not academy award winning, but it's somewhat entertaining. Now I still cannot approve or say that I'm a fan of the EXTREME gore that runs rampant through this film and the whole series really. The gore in the movie is extremely graphic and unsettling, I mean I know that it's meant to be, but it's still just too much for my taste. Jill Tuck is one of my favorite parts of this installment, her role was very active in this movie and contributed a lot to it. The "game" was better here than the next final movie, and the game is well constructed here, again, too graphic, but never the less, well constructed. I liked seeing the friction between Jill and the detective. Their complicated and hectic relationship takes a very interesting turn here, and I kinda like where it went. I will be reviewing the previous saw films as I see them, I know it's weird, I'm going backwards, but I catch what I can on TV lol. 6/10 for Saw VI.
bh_tafe3 Oh look, all you need to know about this film is that Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) runs around with the severed hand of the late Agent Strahm trying to leave Strahm's fingerprints everywhere. Look, I lost it when he pulled out the hand. I was sitting in the theatre and burst out laughing. And he doesn't stop using it! he just keeps going. This is the film where they let go of any pretensions of being some serious gritty horror film, and it is all the better for it, as the past two have been about as torturous to watch as some of the traps have been. In this one you will actually have some fun watching it.What else happens? Who cares! Well all right, we have some douchey people (insurance assessors, predatory lenders) put into traps, who we are supposed to want to see die. We have Hoffmam taking out some agents who have worked out who he is and we have some more crap about Amanda and Jigsaw that I stopped caring about 2 or 3 films back.Look, if you must keep making these movies, please make silly ones like this with a genuine cliff hanger and some fun to be had. Jigsaw died in Part 3. I don't want to know what was written in a letter Amanda read in Part 3. I don't want to see Saw trying to channel Fight Club by "making people feel free," and I really don't want to have a whole movie wasted by trying to explain Hoffman's back story while a group of people not even connected to the main story kill each other in a trap. I want to see Hoffman use a severed hand to leave fingerprints (think about how stupid that really is) and kill some people who've found him out. I want to see a predatory lender cut their arm off with a meat cleaver. I want to see an insurance assessor get pumped full of acid. And at film's end I really want to see what Hoffman does next after escaping from that Bear Trap Jill put him in.It's better than the last two, more than incrementally, and that's the main thing you can ask for. Well, on my score sheet, that's three good, one boring and two bad. Looks like this series is going all the way down to the last installment to see if it works as a whole.
