Desertman84 "Shall We Kiss?" is a French romantic comedy film directed by Emmanuel Mouret. It features starring Virginie Ledoyen, Mouret, Julie Gayet, Michaël Cohen, Frédérique Bel and Stefano Accorsi. The story begins with two strangers who end up attracted to each other, even though they both are involved in relationships with others. The woman refuses to kiss the man goodnight after a dinner together, explaining that a single kiss can alter a life. This set-up acts as a framing device for the main story, a tale she shares with him about friends who complicate their lives by becoming sexually involved. After an enjoyable night together, Gabriel attempts to kiss her but is rejected. To explain her reaction, Emilie tells a second-hand story of some complex Paris relationships.Refreshingly, here comes a movie which shows that marital infidelity is not without serious repercussions. This winning comedy only hits its romantic high when we return to that framing story, the storyteller who won't casually kiss because she knows, damn well, that sometimes a kiss is just a kiss, and sometimes it's a lot more. And what's great about this film is that it turns out to be an entertaining film that also ends up being more sophisticated and thoughtful about love and morality than it first appears.Watch it and see it for yourself.
Michael Malak If you like quiet walks in the park,---------------------------------- If you like to rowboat on a lake, ------------------------------------ If you like flying a kite, ------------------------------------------- If you like warmth of the sun on your face, -------------------------- If you like to stump your shoes in a puddle, ------------------------- If you like clicking of shoes on cobblestones, ----------------------- If you like feel of a kiss on your lips ------------------------------ -----------------------------------You will like this movie. This movie, pardon me; film, is about; relationship, love, desire, and infidelity. Ordinary emotions filmed in the most romantic way only the French could do.
arthera09 I don't want to have to give this a lower score, but i cannot justify a higher score. It was mildly enjoyable, but it was slow moving. It a wonderful intimate moment on the bed where it was just the shot of his hand on her body. It was very well shot and structured. The fact that that scene was the best scene of the movie made the rest of it seem mediocre especially as the storyline became even more ridiculous. The performances where nothing special, but the two main actors sold the love scenes. I do think at the end there was some originality and had a lot of potential, but seeing movies like this makes me think of other movies I have seen that have done it better. The only reason that this even gets a 7 and not a 6 is because I enjoyed the story structure, but it wore on me after a while and the scene when they first make love. I also did not really care if the two actors kissed at the and it might have been more enjoyable if they left up to the imagination of the viewer. If it served a purpose with respect to the characters maybe, but I do not think it pulled it off at all.
peterb-49 Just saw this movie this afternoon and loved it. A light fare, excellent music, wonderful plot with a twist in the tail at the end. You certainly leave the theater on a high. My favorable impression might be clouded by the fact that I am a admirer and lover of French cinema. Do not expect high drama, superb acting but some wonderful moments that will entertain and amuse every aficionado of modern cinema. Loved the use of color to highlight moods an emotions, with the clothes of the actors and the background of the sets complementing each other wonderfully. The acting as said is not spectacular, however all characters are brought to life and made very personable and likable.
