Reviews

Jaba Chutlashvili Excellent movie. It's very interesting. Doesn't have any dull moments. Creates something unique atmosphere. After watching it, I had a desire to watch it again & again & again & again & again & again & again & again... Actors & actresses are all playing well their roles, characters aren't boring. Ending is surprisingly interesting. I think it became one of my favorite movies of all time & I admit, I love well-made indie movies like this. And definitely I'm recommending this movie for the people who seek movies about cults, people's life & mystery, instead of special effects & etc. I hope we will see part II of this movie.
noltooth Sound Of My Voice is a low budget film made with considerable care. It begins with two people being taken somewhere. They are first asked to shower thoroughly and are given hospital gowns to wear. They are then blindfolded and driven to an unknowable location where they sit in on a meeting. The people around them are similarly garbed. A gentleman informs them that as they are new to the group, they might find this first meeting difficult. A figure enters the room trailing an oxygen tank. It is Maggie, a woman who claims to be from the future. She has plans for them.Maggie is portrayed by the luminous Brit Marling, who co-wrote the script with director Zal Batmanglig. She is completely believable as an amazingly charismatic human, but what is her charisma being used for? The couple you meet at the beginning, Peter and Lorna, are actually making a documentary about cults and are infiltrating Maggie's group. So, is this luminous being a con artist? She can't actually be from the future can she? There's nothing new about the 'is she/he for real' meme. Filmmakers have been using that hook for many years. But this little film uses that hook quite well. It buries it somewhere between hope and skepticism and tugs gently at first, then with a bit more sharpness until, finally, it hurts. The acting throughout is strong. Christopher Denham as Peter and Nicole Vicius as Lorna both turn in nice performances and they get solid support. The script is tantalizing and smart. Things that seem a little corny at first come back to haunt you. It all comes down to this: is this a science fiction film or a is it about a beautiful and talented huckster? You won't know until the very end.
SnoopyStyle Independent journalists Peter Aitken (Christopher Denham) and Lorna Michaelson (Nicole Vicius) decide to infiltrate a mysterious cult led by charismatic Maggie (Brit Marling) with questionable claims. There are some great inside views of a cult. It's both eerie and gut wrenching. But the biggest revelation has to be Brit Marling. She really inhabits the role. If this movie starts and ends with Maggie, then I may give it a better rating. The two leads are just not up to the task. They are little more than extras. While I understand the limits of an indie, I can't give them a break for the lack of acting talent other than Brit Marling.
Crazyfilm Reviewer As for the Film itself it is not great. Very slow and kinda boring. Reading other reviews of this film there seems to be a lot or in most cases too much thought put into the ending. ******Spoilers and my own take on the films ending coming up so turn back now if you have not watched it *******OK so here it goes. This is what the film is about for me. It is a pretty simple take and what i thought of straight away as i watched the film. There is no time travel nonsense. Maggie is a nut job. Wanted by the law and on the run. She set all of this up to kidnap and get her daughter back. Yes i think abigail was her daughter. Abigail's parents got divorced and the dad got custody. The reason how abigail knew the handshake is cause maggie her mother taught it to her when she was younger. Maybe her dad still uses it with her. we don't know. Abigail cant remember her moms face cause she was too young. . Thats it film was rubbish.
