Tessina Schuster I can't possibly describe in how many ways I hate this movie. When I started watching it I knew it would be cheesy, contain bad jokes and be full of stereotypes. But I never expected something like this. Aside from the fact that Amanda Bynes seems stiff and unnatural (and I don't mean her overdone tan), all the while the movie is trying to be funny and only gets to the point where it's embarrassing. I'm kind of ashamed I even watched it to the end. It's filled with the worst kind of stereotypes and I consider it a joke, that they tried to make Sydney seem different, dorky and nerdy by letting her read comics and have no girlfriends. Seriously? She is so obviously a popular girl that I wonder if there is even one person able to relate to her. Don't get me wrong. I wanted a cheesy 0-8-15 teenager-movie, but they destroyed the whole idea of it by trying to relate to subcultures and outsiders. They only made fun of everyone who does not apply to a certain standard. The lifeless-eyes-no-real-emotions-ever Sydneys on this planet. I wasted almost two precious hours of my life. Thanks for that, Nussbaum. I will never ever watch another movie of yours.PS: I liked the performance of Jack Carpenter. PPS: Oh I could go on describing my hatred towards this movie, but I'll spare you the time and just say: DON'T WATCH IT. PPPS: Pity, that you do have to give a star.
Jacin Harter Cco This one's the nail in the glass coffin for my Snow White series; and like college, it seems so much better when it's over. One thing I've learned in this short series is that the villain is so often more interesting than the hero. The hero's good motivations are assumed, but the villains must be intriguing and explored. That's why we loved Heath Ledger's Joker. In "Sydney White", neither the hero, Amanda Bynes, nor the villain, Sara Paxton are interesting at all. Paxton fulfills (quite perfectly, actually) every high school/college bitch stereotype. Bynes bounces about like a Pollyanna chipmunk with more fake-tan than "Jersey Shore". She was much better as Cindy Lou Who in "Hairspray".This movie has a strange comedy pace. Over-all its a regurgitated college story, but then like every 5 min there'll be something adorably goofy that makes you keep watching.Look out for: a super shitty soundtrack poisoned apple computer lame first kiss two well placed hi hosThe working title, "Sydney White and the Seven Dorks" should have stayed.I recommend just making out through this one.
Scott Mellgren I feel silly. When I pulled up IMDb for this movie, so i could spell the Director's name, that's when I read that this movie's concept was stolen from the Snow White formula, complete with the seven dwarfs. Dope! Now forget I said that. Ready, OK. Sydney White is a unique girl, yet so normal that she could make you sick, in a good way I suppose. Amanda Bynes pulls off the "anti- Legally Blonde" role with ease and class. I'm not the hugest fan of hers from watching her on the show What I Like About You but her performance in this movie was really pretty nice. I actually forgot all about her teeny-bopper show while watching Sydney White. http://fcmclub.blogspot.com/2009/04/sydney-white-2007.html
fattehboi Honestly...at first I looked at the front cover and thought hey, this looks like a crappy chick flick being my sisters have already seen the movie twenty times, and the cover just looks corner. So right away the movie starts off slow, introducing who she is, what she does, her mom died when she was nine, yada yada. It picks up when she has to fill the kappa legacy, her getting kicked out and sent to Vortex to chill with her nerd friends, and the election.I soon realize with all the brilliant names like White Witchburn and Prince that this movie was all about a modern day Snow White. The dorks are the dwarfs, the virus is the poisonous apple, the "Hi Hoes", it really had a lot of cameos from its model film. The message this movie portrays is a positive one, and you will laugh a lot along the way...especially if you've experienced college, are doing so now, or on their way, it's fun for everyone."I've never had sex, but I really, really want to!"
