GaneshKSalian Tashan directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya is a bad movie. The film may be very high on style but is equally low in substance.Performances of Akshay Kumar,Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor make this a "watchable" film. But is this one would really want from a movie belonging to Yash Raj? Story: Jeetendra Kumar Makwana (Saif Ali Khan) is employed full-time at a Call Center and works part-time teaching English. He is recruited by an attractive young woman, Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), to teach her Hinglish-speaking boss, Bhaiyaji (Anil Kapoor),English. Jeetendra agrees to do so, falls in love with Pooja, and joins forces with her to steal a bag containing 25 Crore Rupees in cash.Bahiyaji settles for Bachchan Pande (Akshay Kumar) to carry out the job of tracing Pooja, once Jimmy surrenders himself to Bhaiyyaji. What happens next? The direction is bad.The music is equally bad.The cinematography is excellent.Performances: Performances are the only thing worth in this movie.Akshay Kumar steals the show with his superb performance.Kareena Kapoor looks gorgeous and is good too.Anil Kapoor after a hiatus seen donning a villainous role is mind-blowing.Saif Ali Khan is subtle.Yashpal Sharma is hardly there.Sanjay Mishra and Manoj Pahwa provide few laughs. All in all,Tashan is a very very bad movie.Do not watch even by mistake.I am giving it a two on ten.Major Disappointment!
debabrata_bala Sorry, everybody who choose movie bad and good according to the box office status.I am very sorry for them who watch and comment on movies.Bur the actual thing is that they don't know anything about cinema and the labor behind making cinema. If everything goes right then Mera Naam Joker will be hit as Shakti,Sadma...........and the list is too long to write. But one thing is sure they will feel that they know about cinema. They will raise question about our movies are not getting Oscars. Then guys please watch any foreign movie that got Oscar. But please with some intelligence you will never be doubtful over this question. Have you guys watched movie Draculla in comically presented in Hollywood. Please watch it you will find what Tashan is all about. This is a genius. Everything is brilliant except proper marketing. Those who rejected Tashan made Om Shanti Om super hit (the years biggest hit) as well as Main Hoon Na. I have no complained over those movies. They were also brilliant but properly marketed by Saharukh Khan. The thing I want to say is that Tashan is a pure homage to 80's Masala Bollywood movies where Dharmendra can jump over 10 stored buildings, a canny man like Rajkumar can defeat tones of villains with great body by slapping only. The same critics' applause that made them intellectual best. So my dear audience never judge at your point view but you have no idea of film-making art. Sadly speaking a good movie is proved a good movie when it declares as hit. Tashan is by far the best movie I have seen these days. Just imagine Bijay Krushna Acharya is a fool who made this action movie no my dear he assumes that our Indian audience has improved a lot they can understand the theme of the movie which is parody of all Masala Bollywood movies of 80's .
Prashant Govindan ...for this movie defines a new low in Bollywood and has set the standard against which all c**p must now be compared.First off, the beginning did have elements of style....and if handled well, could have become a cult classic, a-la pulp fiction or a Desi desperado...but the plot (was there one?) begins to meander and at one point completely loses it.Throw in a deranged don with an obsession for English, a call center smart Alec, a femme fa tale who can don a bikini and a Saree with the same aplomb, a levitating, gravity defying hit-man and a cop with a hundred (or was it a thousand) black cat commandos on their trail....good ingredients in competent hands. But this is where I would like to ask the director: Sir, what were you smoking?Im sure this movie would be remembered in the annals of Bollywood film making - for what must never be done - insult the intelligence of the most brain dead of movie goers. Possibly the only redeeming feature in this Desi matrix plus desperado plus grindhouse caper is the music...watch the videos...hear the airplay and you wont be disappointed. Vishal- Shekhar come up with some eminently hummable tunes. How I wish the director had spent the money in creating some more eye candy....As I sign off, I want to really, badly know how does Akshay's bullet wound vanish in a microsecond...what were you editors doing? Tashan, maybe...
m_shankar20 First lesson that some film makers (particularly those inspired by Hollywood) need to know - just 'style' does not sell. I guess Tashan when translated will mean style. Second, if you are hell bent on selling style, that does not spare you from having a decent story.Tashan has some story which could have sufficed with some better director. But it is not slick. For example, all three - Saif, Kareena and Akshay - are narrators at different points in the story. But this setup is not utilized to properly. There could have been a better mix and match of their narrations. Actions sequences are from the seventies.Cheoreography of the film is awful. I think Vaibhavi Merchant just sleep walked through this film. Vishal-Shekhar have put up a good score but it does not belong to this film. Why is there a sufi song (Dil Haara) in Tashan? Why is the cool Hinglish song (Dil Dance Maare) not on Anil Kapoor when he is the one who is English crazy? Akshay Kumar is the saving grace of the film. But he is in his stereotyped self. You won't mind missing this film.
