It's obviously aimed at kids, but the songs and singing are superb. Carole King performs a couple of them. The exception is the child who voices "Jason", who is completely out of tune (Home is in Your Heart), but this actually adds to my enjoyment. This was the pre-Autotune era, after all.The plot is no worse than the average Disney movie, and in some ways better since Disney tends to feel clichéd these days. The Evil Spirit is wonderful, and actually gets to do a bit of evil before being vanquished by the bears.I never had a Care Bear as a kid and never wanted one, but I always loved this movie. I still love it as an adult. The only thing that turns my stomach is the last line: "Care for me, Mrs Cherrywood. Just care for me" which frankly makes me retch. But up until that point, it's great.I highly recommend it, even just to play in the background while you're doing something else. It's a happy place.

Yeah, my cool defense is that I was 5 when this went down. So, Lucky Bear, he has an Irish Accent which, when you think about it and the fact that they all live and grew up and spent their entire lives in the same place, Care-a-Lot, just means that he has a speech impediment doesn't it?Moving on, this will give you near instant tooth decay. It is way too sweet and even writing that makes me feel guilty because I know I just made the caring meter go down. But it is brilliant, the concept is such that if you don't like you are instantly sort of a heartless git. A sociopath even.It holds your humanity hostage

I was a massive fan of this movie as a child, and a VHS copy of it has graced our living room shelf as long as I can remember. I definitely plan to add a DVD copy to my collection when I have kids.. it's cheerful brand of moral teachings is something that kids these days seem to be missing out on.. the new episodes and movies just aren't as good! I actually pulled my copy out the other day when I was sorting through my childhood videos and books... and watched it. I've always been a great lover of Nelvana animations, but to my horror, I found an error! When the evil spirit is attacking Kim and Jason at the bottom of the cliff, and friend and secret bear are using the stare to hold him off... the others stare from around the corner on the boat, and as the boat comes into view, who should be at the helm of the boat? why Tenderheart should! but he isn't... friend bear is! despite not even being on the boat, but on the cliff face with secret bear. Major oops! I was amazed I'd never noticed it before.

It's a great film cause it hasn't got too much violence as other new cartoons do, and it bring back memory's to grownups of there childhood days. the songs are great, especially the main song which i think is called care-a-lot which is what's it about, and it truly gets you in the heart where it's suppose to.it proves that the 80's cartoons were better than todays cartoons made by Japanese, cause they always like killing and fighting, but this animated film show we shouldn't kill or hate each other in the world but care for each other by being friends and sharing and caring and even helping each other have a great life with happiness around us.
