Some people like, some people extremely dislike. I think that the movie overall was pretty poor. No surprises, very weak story line, ending was open, but weak as well. it is not a total waste of time, has its moments, but never develops to be overly interesting. Very difficult to write the ten lines review. The FX were not the worst I have ever seen, but again no excitement. just a bland visual experience. Actors did not give any noteworthy performance. If you do take the time to watch it, well, you will not be extremely disappointed and there may be some that will find their own in it. But for me, definitely not a movie worth a second look. Once and out.

I looked immediately to see when this was made to determine whether it was trying to capitalize on Jurassic Park hysteria. It was not. The effects are on the order of Walking with Dinosaurs, and not up to Jurassic Park standards. The storyline is interesting, but tried and true... a bunch of people in a desperate situation, with one bad guy among them. Like Blair Witch, the movie overdoes the hand-held video effects, and spends a lot of time shaking and pixelating. They do meet up with large prehistoric animals that are out of context. I have no idea why we would see large plesiosaurs and pliosaurs in a small shallow river. The movie setting was off as well. It was supposed to be set in the Congo, but the surroundings and vegetation looked decidedly temperate. Turns out that it was filmed in South Africa, which is temperate.

A British expedition formed by the lead researcher Jonathan Marchant (Richard Dillane), his assistant, a doctor and a TV crew, travels to Congo to seek evidence of a dinosaur. A local guide and the helicopter pilot join the team and the group heads to the jungle. During their trip, they find a stowaway in the helicopter, the son of Jonathan. Soon the helicopter is attacked by flying creatures and crashes in the jungle in the beginning of the last journey of Jonathan Marchant and his team."The Dinosaur Project" is a predictable and lame dinosaur movie, a combination of the clichés of "The Lost World" with the exhausted style of the "reality" of "The Blair Witch Project". It is amazing that the viewer can predict what is going to happen on the next scene, and most of the dialogs are ridiculous. My vote is three.Title (Brazil): "Projeto Dinossauro" ("Dinosaur Project")

When I sat down to watch The Dinosaur Project, I didn't have high hopes (as I'd seen a couple of unfavourable reviews), but what I got was 80 minutes of interesting and exciting adventure. A team of explorers sets off on an expedition into the heart of Africa to verify strange reports of mysterious sightings. It's shot using a variety of hand-held cameras akin to Cloverfield, The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. The acting and certain CGI creatures (the little bat-dino things looked great) are a bit sub-par, but I easily looked over these flaws to enjoy the interesting idea that this film toys with. There are your typical action and adventure scenes that you would expect from a movie full of carnivorous dinosaurs. Some parts of the film feel disjointed, and you're left wondering why the produces left those parts in (the antagonist especially), but otherwise it's surprisingly suspenseful and even heartwarming during certain scenes. I personally enjoyed it. Don't start watching the movie and expect to see something as good as Jurassic Park, rather enjoy it for what it is: A good adventure film that is a bit rough around the edges.
