Enchorde Recap: When Tom and Sofia has a kid Sofia, a successful lawyer, decides to be a full time mom it means Tom has to step up and provide for the family. Problem is, Tom just got fired. So they leave New York and go to Sofia's old hometown so Tom can take up Sofia's dads job offer. And there is Chip. Chip is stuck in a wheelchair and will be mentoring Tom. Chip is also Sofia's ex and still in love with her, so the mentoring will not be so much helpful as sabotage… Comments: Mostly this is just embarrassing. A few funny spots but mostly you know what's going to happen a long time before it does, and the simple point is that Tom (Braff) is to make a fool out of himself. If you like that kind of humor, fine, then this might actually be a movie for you. For me it did get way too much, there must be something else to give the movie balance. It does not. To me it was mostly embarrassing.Surprisingly the cast is very good. Skillful comedians like Zach Braff, Amanda Peet and Jason Bateman are supported by Donal Logue, Amy Adams and Paul Rudd among others. If there is a cast that can do comedy, this is the one. Unfortunately they don't succeed. In my opinion it's the predictable, simpleminded story that does it. It is a good idea and it glimmers in moments but at barely 90 minutes, it seem long.I watched this a rainy afternoon on a day off. Could have spent the time better… 3/10
orangeisthenewawesome What an utterly formulaic piece of garbage that wastes the talents of Zach Braff and Jason Bateman, two very funny guys on TV. There are some great supporting characters too and even they can't put lipstick on this pig. The directing is bad and the writing is just poor. Not a funny joke in the whole film! Usually a formulaic film can rise above average writing with great performances and great directing. This poor cast just had nothing to work with.Amanda Peet is her usual bland, boring self, and she's the only one who belongs in this. Everyone else is wasted. It's a bummer.Do not see this, even if you have the opportunity to see it for free. It's that much of a waste of time.
dobbin-4 I know he did not write it, but he did make the movie. Well, him and Jason Bateman made the movie. In this movie, a guy (Zach Braff) is continually getting fired from his job, so he decides to move town and work for his wife's (Amanda Peet) father (Charles Grodin) at his ad agency. Here, he meets an ex of his wife's (Played by Jason Bateman) who try to make his life a living hell. The film is extremely funny and light and a good addition to the cringe type of comedy that Zach Braff has done on Scrubs. The acting performances were enough to keep me watching as they were honestly so dead on portraying what they were meant to. Now, don't get me wrong, this will not win ANY Oscars but anybody with a sense of humour or somebody who is a big fan of Zach Braff (I am both) will LOVE this movie. I rate this film 72% although that is compared to other movies coming out it would usually be about a 65.
prospeak I must say that i was pleasantly surprised by the way this movie turned out , and judging by the reviews . . . . i was just expecting an average flick . Well the story may not be the best in the world but the execution is good . Braff is in his 'scrubs' form. Jason Bateman is hilarious and so is the rest of the cast .There are quite a few laugh out loud moments in here , this flick has a nice mixture of subtle wit and slapstick . Why the other bad reviews then you ask ???? Well let's just say that the movie is not kind to the disabled and is pretty much a reminder of how we treat them differently( of course not in a bad way , but the 'extra niceness' is my point )and some people will detest that . Well summing it up it is a good movie which does not have gross out humor , a good cast , an o.k(if not a completely believable script) and is good for lightening up the mood on a weekend. ( 8 stars is overshooting but what can i say . . . i am a fan of scrubs and arrested development and the movie is way underrated )
