horizonbts-206-628336 For me I think the actors carried this film, and done the best with what they are given. I love Tye Sheridan and have been a fan ever since I saw him in the movie "Mud". I was at a resell store and saw John Travolta, Christoper Plummer, and Tye Sheridan were in this movie, so took a chance and bought it. There were a lot of holes/pieces missing in the script and it could have been better written overall.. One thing that bothered me was the son was sick, only once did he have issues with his ailment. Most of the time he looked and acted healthy and the movie could have developed this much better into the storyline.. Too there were lots of other holes, huge gaping holes in the plot. Still I won't pan it too much because overall on a slow day I somewhat enjoyed it and the actors in it. Also a bonus was one of the main characters in the film was from the TV series "Timeless" which i enjoy, she played the agent. It's sad sometimes movies could have been blockbusters if they were better developed or given more to go on. In this case it was the writing, too it is very similar to a movie I have seen before. See if you can figure out which one I am thinking of and see for yourself if you think it was retreaded!!
Martin van de Wardt-Olde Riekerink It is about motives. About loyalty, and how that fades away given the right amount of wrongdoing. It is about seizing opportunity against the odds. Looking for that spark of hope to hold on to. Yes, it all ends well, it ís Hollywood after all. But this movie manages to hold on to that gloom of despair for a long time, and shows that it is not all sunshine after the clouds have gone. It shows in the end that human existence is short of one main ingredient only; the time spent with loved ones. There is a heist in here, there is a cop, some villains and a forgery. It's entertainment, and not the main subject of this movie. Well shot, well lit, with ample telling silences. I liked it a lot. I liked the characters a lot, I liked Travolta acting, especially when he acts alongside his "son"
moonspinner55 Expert art forger in Boston is released from a stint in jail early with help from the crime syndicate, who want him to pull off one final job. John Travolta plays the single dad who unites his father and teenage son in a scheme to replace a Monet from the art museum with a ringer. Listless, "moody" drama, poorly-written by Richard D'Ovidio, makes art forgery look like a hobby, chemotherapy treatments something that may sideline a cancer-sufferer for an hour or so, and breaking into a museum as easy as spraying a keyboard pad for fingerprints and switching off the electricity. Travolta looks positively lost standing in front of a canvas with a paintbrush in his hand, but his wrung-out appearance here is appropriate and he keeps his star-persona in check. Not so Christopher Plummer as his father, who continually drops f-bombs and tries stealing scenes by being 'wily.' D'Ovidio's idea of providing action in this enervated scenario includes Travolta introducing his son to the drug-addicted mother the kid never knew and, that old standby, taking the boy to a prostitute. We also get two police detectives on the case who seem plucked from a B-movie in the 1990s, plus greasy-haired guys working for the crime boss who don't even flinch when Plummer surprises them with a shotgun. The whole picture is so drab and ordinary, one can't be sure if, perhaps, the screenplay was diluted before or during production or if it was never worth a damn to begin with. *1/2 from ****
Seth_Rogue_One I almost feel like the filmmakers decided to forge what this movie was supposed to be, the plot summary and even poster makes it sound like a proper heist-flick with flashy pictures and talks of 'it's never too late for one last heist'.But it's more a father/son relationship drama than it is a thrilling heist movie.Nothing wrong with that but why not advertise it as such as most heist film fans are bound to be let down? And when it is about the heist everything is super simplified and it's just not very realistic so it never gives you a 'whoa' factor either. The acting is okay, and it's not horrible but nothing really stands out and it ends out and the lack of action for most part of the duration makes it a rather forgettable experience.
