huddleston-jon30 This is a dark and suspenseful, edge of your seat, thrill ride. This movie was so much better than I had thought it was going to be. I really can't believe I hadn't seen this sooner.
rjcbm-45399 First, let me say this. C.Thomas Howell's acting was horrible. In a movie there is supposed to be a character you care about. Real quick I discovered that I didn't care if he lived or died. I didn't care about Nash either. Secondly,it seems like everyone in this movie, with the exception of John Ryder is stupid. The kid can't manage to find the right words to tell the cops what's going on? He mumbles a sentence here and there to try to explain the situation but that's about it. The police just stand there while the girl is tied to the truck. No one even tries to sneak over and untie her before she is torn in half. Oh and NOBODY has any ability shoot and hit their target, except of course, the bad guy.Over all,I think it was a terrible movie. I watched it alone. I wish I would have watched it with someone else, though. Not because I was scared, but because it would have been fun to laugh at it and make fun of it.
nintendofan1545 This movie has to be one of the most entertaining road movies I've ever seen. It follows the story of a young man sent across the country to deliver a car to California from Chicago. He ends up picking up a hitchhiker and chaos ensues. When I first saw this movie, I thought the beginning would be the best part. But I was thoroughly surprised when I found the rest of the movie is just as good. The interaction with the hitchhiker and the man at the diner I found to be one of the most tense scenes in the movie.Even though the film has cheesy moments, those are saved by Rutger Hauer's spot on acting as the hitchhiker. He really puts his all into the part and makes it clear his one goal is to make his escapee suffer slowly before he can die. The climax of the movie puts a nice cap on the movie and leaves you at the edge of your seat. This slasher/thriller movie is sure to please, just make sure you don't pick up any hitchhikers along the way.
OllieSuave-007 This is an 80s thriller where young Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell) who wishes he never gave hitchhiker John Ryder (Rutger Hauer) a ride. He turns out to be a murderous psychopath who stalks and frames Halsey for his crimes after Jim initially kicks him out of his car.The entire film is set in the desert, which gives the notion that there is nowhere for poor Halsey to hide. Therefore, he must dodge Ryder at every time and think of a plan to beat him at his own cat and mouse game. All this mayhem set off an intriguing plot and suspenseful thrills that will keep you at the edge of your seat. The acting is decent enough and the drama is sort of powerful; you could sense Halsey's frustration and anxiety this psychopath has caused him, providing sympathy from the audience. Included in the story is some intense horror and action sequences that all leads to a tense climax ***minor spoiler*** (not a completely satisfying climax, but still serviceable). ***minor spoiler ends*** Not bad overall.Grade B
