print-36056 I never wrote a review but this film is so bad i couldn't stand it.This is one of the worst movies I've seen.A failed attempt of Zoolander.Bad jokes, poor acting, no story.Steve Carrel was a genius in the office but this is Incredible sad.A waste of time, except for some few moments Jim Carrey made me laugh.Olivia is beautiful, a pity seeing her in this horrible film.It is sad to see good actors with so poor script.luckily I did no pay for watching it.I got the feeling the director thinks the audience is stupid.
morrison-dylan-fan With Easter coming up,I started searching round for a Comedy which a friend could watch with her family during the holiday season.Searching round on Amazon Uk,I suddenly remembered hearing about a fun-looking Comedy that had surprisingly failed at the box office, which led to me getting ready to meet Burt Wonderstone. The plot:Getting beaten up at school, Burt Wonderstone finds joy in a magic kit that his mum gets him for his birthday.Playing around with his magic tricks,Wonderstone catches the attention of Anton Marvelton, who shares Wonderstone's interest in magic, which leads to Wonderstone & Marvelton soon forming a double act.Decades later:Signed up by Bally's Casino owner Doug Munny to a 10 year contract,Wonderstone & Marvelton slowly find themselves become tired of performing the same old tricks, with Wonderstone also beginning to believe that he is bigger then the team.Standing outside Bally's,Marvelton and Wonderstone are left speechless, when street magician Steve Gray films his latest show outside the building. As Gray's new show airs, the cracks in Wonderstone & Marvelton's act start to appear.View on the film:Whilst the ending fails to sparkle, the screenplay by (deep breath!) Jonathan M. Goldstein/John Francis Daley/Chad Kultgen and Tyler Mitchell keeps the spells flowing,by juggling splashes of physical Comedy with a smooth buddy Comedy charm. For the rivalry between the magicians, the writers smartly give each of them contrasting styles, with Wonderstone's inflated ego making his act largely based on showmanship, whilst Gray takes aim at a grotesque, but mesmerising style of street magic.Wrapped in a pure 80s mullet,Steve Carell gives a wonderful performance as Burt Wonderstone, with Carell superbly showing Wonderstone's joy in magic be pushed away by his ego-driven taste for the ladies, and to also push everyone else out of the limelight.Treated like a human punch bag by Wonderstone, Steve Buscemi gives a great performance as Anton Marvelton, with Buscemi showing Marvelton to be a humble guy,who explodes when Wonderstone finally over steps the mark.Taking on the duo, Jim Carrey gives an explosive performance as Steve Gray, thanks to Carrey jumping straight in to Gray's very physical magic, and also creating an unease over Gray being a less than magical creep, which leads to this film casting a marvellous spell.
CowherPowerForever My review of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone contains some light spoilers. Read at your own risk. This review will also contain a small review of the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack. So look out for that in the last paragraph. To find a comedy in today's times that is downright fantastic and have you laughing hard continuously is almost impossible to find. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone is the film that rolls along once and awhile and chances the average to bad comedies Hollywood usually gives us. Jim Carrey is comedy gold in this film, stealing every scene he is in. From top to bottom this movie is easily worth your time and money as I will get more into details in the following paragraphs. This is my review of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The story is fairly straight forward. Burt Wonderstone and his friend Anton Marvelton become a famous Las Vegas magician duo. After being in the business for so long, a newer type of magician comes along, Steve Gray. Steve Gray is basically the Criss Angel of the film. He does incredibly insane stunts and calls it magic. Jim Carrey is downright fabulous as Steve Gray, and he really steals the show. I won't go into deep detail of some of the stuff he does, but when you see his character come on screen, be prepared for some downright hilarious stuff. So once this Steve Gray becomes more popular he drives out most of the business that Wonderstone and Marvelton had at Vegas. So they decide to break it off after a failed heat box trick that failed horribly, only to come back later in the film and reunite to try and get a gig at a new magic house in Vegas. The comedy from Steve Carrell, Steve Buscemi, Jim Carrey, and even the late great James Gandolfini(may he rest in peace) is downright side splitting. The movie is very quick, with a runtime of just about ninety five minutes(without credits). It however keeps your interest very strong because there is so much great comedy in this film. Even when the plot slows down in parts towards the end, the comedy brings some much needed energy to the film. The actors also gel very well together, thus making the comedy that much better.Overall, this is easily one of my favorite comedies in recent years. With just fantastic comedy, side splitting as I mentioned above, this film will easily leaving you wanting more. If you are a fan of the recent comedies with a bunch of low brow humor, then this film is likely not for you. If you want a more thinking person's comedy, with great mocking of present day magicians, then this is easily a comedy for you.8/10 Finally, I will go over some of the special features for this film on the Blu-Ray/DVD/ Ultraviolet Combo Pack. There are two featurettes on this Blu-Ray. The first is Steve Gray UNCUT, and that runs at almost nine minutes long. The second is Making Movie Magic with David Copperfield, and that runs just over eight minutes long. There is also a gag reel that runs just over four minutes. Finally, there are deleted/extended scenes from the movie that runs just over twenty six minutes. So, overall, the special features are very light for a Blu-Ray. Sure the movie wasn't a massive hit at the box office, but if I'm going to spend extra money on a Blu-Ray I would like at least an hour of extra features. So, in closing, the special features gets a very low 3 out of 10.
reaver80808-552-7999 If like me, you are in your mid thirties or older, you probably remember comedies like "the Burbs" and "Fletch Lives". This movie is reminiscent of lets 80's/early 90's titles like those. And I think that is a good thing! It doesn't rely on an endless tirade of d**k and gay jokes, like pretty much every other comedy released in recent years. Let's face it, anything with the names "Seth Rogen" or "Danny McBride" on the cast list have been guaranteed to be one long penis joke set to a backdrop of repressed homosexuality. (It's getting old guys!) A lot of the humor is subtle, probably why a generation of people spoon- fed reality TV don't git it. It does also have it's sillier moments though, but they work in the context of the movie. Steve Carell is on top form and delivers a sleazy but still likable performance. Special mention should also go to Olivia Wilde, who pulls off some great humorous moments, her inability to walk in heels at the beginning is a nice touch. Jim Carey too goes somewhat against his usual "crazy" character and plays a self obsessed David Blaine-esq "street magician" (his drill 'trick' had me in fits of laughter - taa daa!)If you are looking for a comedy that has subtly, heart and some old fashioned silliness, then this could be the movie for you. If not, I'm sure the hangover part 100 will be out soon.
