khloeey95 I'm writing this as I watch this film for what could be the hundredth time (or possibly more since I've been told that me and my friend used to ask to watch this every day, after school, when we were really little), and I just have to say that this will always be a favourite film of mine. Always. I think this must be the first film that I ever saw that starred Jim Carrey and since then, I've considered Carrey to be one of my favourite actors of all time (alongside Robin Williams). You can't help but love how wacky, and lovably quirky, he is in this film! I know that should I have kids in the future, I will definitely have to show them this film - who knows, they might even love it as much as I do!It's funny, crazy, hilarious, amazing, enjoyable, and seriously epic to watch! Favourite moments/scenes/quotes (from The Mask):1) His first transformation with the mask. (And when he says "Look ma, I'm roadkill. Ha-ha-HA!" - I would find this so funny when I was little). 2) His singing and dancing scenes (with Cameron Diaz's character, and his rendition of "Cuban Pete" with the police). 3) His scene in the park with Cameron Diaz's character when he says something along the lines of "J'adore, j'adore, shut the window, I don't care!" (I'm not at this scene just yet and can't remember the line exactly as it is, but I always found it hilarious). 4) And the scenes in the casino where he gives a speech for "winning an award", asks "Did you miss me..? I guess not!!", and when he swallows the dynamite and exclaims "That's a spicy meatball!" with an accent. There are numerous moments in The Mask that are noteworthy, alongside the ones I've listed above, and just as funny and great to watch. If you haven't seen this film, I would truly recommend that you watch it as soon as possible. If you love comedy and really want to have a laugh, then this would be a great choice!
andrew_flay Great family film, Very funny and now I'm getting older I get the condom joke at "sorry wrong pocket". Very funny a must watch for the family.
adonis98-743-186503 Bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss is transformed into a manic superhero when he wears a mysterious mask. The Mask is my 2nd favorite Jim Carrey film and i love it because each time i watch it it brings back so many great memories from the 90's it's funny, it's full of heart and adventure and even Cameron Diaz is good in the film except hot too. The best scenes of the movie for me are all around Stanley himself he is dancing, singing, makes weird cartoony and goofy faces, he has like 50 guns in his pocket and he can change clothes anytime he wants to also the villain in the end turns into The Mask too and he looks goddamn creepy it's a shame that they never did a proper sequel and not a cash grab awful straight to DVD sequel that makes you hate the name of the film but anyways The Mask is still an Amazing Film.
John Brooks This film has typically gone underrated. This is Jim Carrey's introduction to the major international public, and just like every other film he'd star in, he steals the show. As I ask in almost all my Carrey-starring movie reviews: could this film have even existed, or been efficient at any level, with ANYONE ELSE but Jim Carrey ? This guy is like Michael Jordan for a basketball team. You may have mediocre coaching, game-plan or even other players, but with very little and him on your squad, you can still achieve greatness or at very least glimpses of it. People forget that underneath the graphical effects, there's Jim Carrey. He's the Mask more than CGI or costumes. The film is funny, fun, entertaining if you'll only go into it with the according mindset. It's a nice tribute to the Tex Avery's and old school cartoonish classics, and a wacky, wacky premise to even begin with. It's also got a bit of morality: we all wear masks; and also the Mask itself is only power, it is the one who wears it who determines if he transforms into a positive weirdo, or a monster. Well written, fun watch. A classic.
