Nitzan Havoc I'm one of those who really enjoyed White Noise at the time, and was warned by others not to watch this sequel on account of it being... well, not good. I never take such advice, I always like to see for myself, and most times the experience is rewarding. However, in the case of White Noise 2, while I'm glad I watched it, I can't help but agreeing with the critics. The first part of the story is excellent. The audience is immediately sucked into sympathy and grief for the protagonist's tragedy, and is curious to find out how he's going to cope with his loss and his new "condition". The idea of being able to "see" people who are about to die and try to save them was very nice, like an extended development of The Unbreakable. Also, I found the acting to be excellent on all accounts. Nathan Fillion is in my book a great actor, and since he gets most of the screen time in White Noise 2 as the protagonist, you'd notice if he wasn't. Katee Sackhoff also does a great job, and altogether the entire cast is very successful.Unfortunately, that's all the praises I can give to this anticlimactic sequel. The use of static "white noises" is clumsy and far-fetched. The idea behind the build up being more than semi-religious with an attempt to add "historical hints" is simply unsuccessful, and the ending is way too sci-fi for a Horror film that is supposedly of the ghost-story sub- genre. While the first film was an innovating and original Horror screenplay making an excellent use of EVP and such, the second simply feels like a sad attempt to milk the idea.So all in all, yes, I did enjoy watching White Noise 2, and the shots of "static ghosts" were in fact quite scary, but the film as a whole was very disappointing. I don't think I'd be able to recommend it, nor say that isn't worthy of watching. An accurate 5/10.
ctomvelu1 Call this a "White Noise" sequel and maybe you draw a few more viewers than you would if you called it something else. But this is not a true sequel, and maybe that's for the best as "White Noise" with Michael Keaton left much to be desired. In WN2, Nathan Fillion of "Firefly/Serenity" fame plays an average joe whose family is brutally killed in front of him. The plot is a bit convoluted, but what it boils down to is, in the aftermath of their deaths, Fillion discovers he can spot people who are about to die. He decides to play superhero and save them, only to find worse things follow when he does. Much worse things. The film's mood is properly eerie, and Fillion is nicely subdued as our haunted and confused hero. This is a Canadian flick, which means you won't recognize most of the cast. Good for a late night scare or two.
demonikaess This movie is one of the worst films I have ever seen. First, It has absolutely nothing to do with white noise, so why name it white noise II? Second the acting in this movie was sup par. And the 'special' effects, as in a bunch of mentally deranged monkeys were hired to do them, were just way too ridiculous and overdone! The movie starts off with potential and then horribly crashes. There is no sense of time in the film, and it feels like everything happens in a disorganized flash of mind numbing ridiculousness. Random black and white people who are supposed to be ghosts pop out of nowhere for no reason whatsoever to harass Abe(the main character) for who knows why! Once Abe learns that the white light means that the person is going to die, he decides to save people. So the first people that he tries to save is a bum. Who is probably the stupidest bum man you've ever seen. Seriously I bet that if you let bums see the bum scene they would tell you that the bum in the film was obviously out of his mind and deserved to die too. The second person he tries to save, is the most crotchety and annoying stupid old man you've ever encountered. Seriously if your car breaks down on the road and you need to go under it to fix something you put out flairs AND YOU DON'T LAY DOWN WITH YOUR LEGS STRETCHED OUT INTO THE LANE!! If someone tries to help you, you don't call them a freaky metrosexual. Also, why would ONE person saved from death need to then go on and KILL MANY people? It just doesn't make sense! It doesn't balance anything and its ridiculous.EVERY transition in the film is either some random cross, upside down cross,a random Jesus painting or a fade out of the main character with a random cross, upside down cross, or a weird Jesus painting in the background. The connections to Lucifer are ridiculous, I don't even understand the point of any religious connection or the need for any religious connection to this film.Basically if you want a very warped tripped out movie that takes ideas from white noise, poltergeist, the exorcist, pulse and blends them all together to make the most incoherent jumble of random crap with loud noises and a team of mentally deranged monkeys special effects guys this is the movie for you.Bottom line, don't watch this movie unless you're trying to ruin your night/date/relationship with your in laws etc , because after seeing it you'll feel like you wasted your life, and the people watching it with you will wonder if you're on crack.
dwpollar 1st watched 5/6/2009 – (Dir-Patrick Lussier): Corny yet effective story about a man who experiences a near death experience and then gains the ability to tell that others are going to die by a white haze that appears around them. Once he determines this is what's going on, he has to decide what to do about it? He starts trying to save these people and has some successes but then he learns later that they then kill others. There is another subplot revolving around his family and the fact that they were killed in front of him by a man who then put himself in the hospital after attempting to kill himself. This happened at the beginning of the movie before he had his near death experience. This complicated plot is handled pretty well by the director and is played well by Nathan Fillion for the most part. The man that killed him family turned out to have had a near death experience as well but kind of went crazy and felt that he had to kill as well as save to balance things out, I guess. The only annoying thing about the movie was a few scare tactics thrown in where the main character sees the dead who were not saved -- really just frightening him, more than anything. This doesn't really add anything to the movie but appears to just be there to make the movie more like a horror story. As a mystery, the movie works pretty well --- which if it was more this way – it would have been better, in my opinion. But all in all, the movie is compelling and keeps you interested despite some of it's flaws.
