kmcghan-34007 I absolutely love this movie!! I have seen it dozens of times and it never gets old. Such an unexpected gem of a movie. Suspense and romance tied up into one intelligently done flick! Great acting and the music is perfect. I love the Scientist by Coldplay,so that sealed the deal for me!! I really wish there were more movies done like this. It is one that really keeps your mind open and alert because you have to somewhat pay attention. It has some unexpected twists and is not too predictable. I often recommend this movie to friends especially friends who like chick flick and thriller type movies. This is a good one!One of my top favorites.
Python Hyena Wicker Park (2004): Dir: Paul McGuigan / Cast: Josh Hartnett, Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard, Rose Byrne, Jessica Pare: Josh Hartnett works at Wicker Park as a digital photographer but the film hardly regards this. Rather it embarks upon the disappearance of his lady love who he discovers two years later. He is now engaged and about to close a business deal but he seeks answers. With striking Chicago locations director Paul McGuigan presents numerous surprises. One of Hartnett's best performances as a guy tortured by the disappearance of his girlfriend and the agitation in his search for answers. In his search he ends up juggling three different women, one whom he desires, one whom his desire long since died, and one whom left him feeling betrayed. Diane Kruger plays his past girlfriend in a role that is mysterious and only figured out in the end. Great supporting work by Matthew Lillard as Hartnett's best friend whom works in a shoe store, and doesn't realize that his girlfriend hasn't the love to return that he has given. Rose Byrne play's Lillard's girlfriend who is a strange theatrical actress, but she becomes involved with Hartnett after one captivating encounter. Jessica Pare plays Hartnett's fiancée who can only suspect that he will not remain faithful and that her life in family union is not for him. Mind bending film about regret and that considered lost. Score: 8 / 10
bellerococo This review contain a bit of spoiler. I don't know this could be spoiler. Anyway, a bit is exist. I love this movie. This is incredible. I love the opening OST stereophonics' 'maybe tomorrow' It is my favorite song. The lyric is great. And before I watched 'l'appartement' which is original movie. So I already recognized about the story. However, I could feel this movie is better. Matthew loves Lisa. And he tried to find where she is. But Alex interrupted their relationship. While watching movie, I was upset about her acting, because it is really mean. However, I understand her intention a little bit. At last scene, I totally understood her mind. Unfortunately, it wasn't love. She did cling to him. I don't know whether it is love or not. Anyway, She looked so vulnerable and weak. I wanted to she acting more aggressive, but it makes drop in value of movie. I want to see another version, just like women cling to some guy.or the opposite.
Johan Dondokambey The story opens up very fluidly, building up the mystery very well with the flash backs of the past romance. But then the revelations from the perspective of the perpetrator open up all the things, including revisiting all those menial things like bumping into other people. And that makes the movie very interesting as the message of the true power of love conquers all deceits. The very details are superbly designed in this movie, particularly the last minute "Rebecca moment". One things strange for me is instead the title, since the Wicker Park itself only take a less significant meaning other than what Lisa and Matthew conversed about. The acting department is very much a great job in overall. Josh Hartnett really did a good job in delivering the gentleman who tries his all out at his love. Diane Kruger sweetly compliments the romance angle. Matthew Lillard did a great job in acting out the sanguine character who doesn't realize what he's mixed up in between. But the highlight for me is Rose Byrne. She did her role very nicely giving all those assortment of expressions needed to act out the envious possessive psychotic who cleverly handles the contingent situations. Also for me she looked very beautiful here, much more beautiful than her other roles. Her hairdo really help in emphasizing her lovely face here.
