omendata Some really vivid and interesting photography, exceptionally hot blonde at the wheel and a stormer of a Car - What is not to like?Yes its a copy of Joyride and Duel but its not as one reviewer says a scene for scene copy - what a dimwit - I guess he hasn't seen "Duel" , I dont recall any scene of a police officer being squashed or a dead female in the boot of a car!Its not going to set your senses on fire but for your average "B" psycho road kill movie its average fair and I have seen much worse!
rhiannondee-37257 This movie is honestly one of the worst movies I've seen in a while. I literally NEVER write reviews on sites like these, but here, I felt it was necessary because I want to vent about how I just wasted an hour and a half of my life! This movie was so incredibly boring, I found myself checking every five minutes to see how much time was left. This movie is essentially one big car chase, which gets old very, VERY quickly especially when nothing actually interesting happens. I honestly think they just wanted to show off a nice Mustang for an hour and a half. The lead actress's facial expressions were so off and dramatic - her shocked face was absolutely terrible. She would bug her eyes out in such an exaggeratory way that you'd think you're watching a comedy or something and not a "thriller." I'm also highly disappointed at the lack of backstory for the bad guy - we seriously do not find out a single thing about him, if it's even a him, because we never see their face either! I want to know motive; why this person is doing what they're doing? Why did they decide to target two random strangers that just happened to be passing through on a road trip? Why did they stick with them for so long and not just give up? Personally, if I was a killer, I'd be a bit bored after chasing down my victim for at least 24 hours and traveling what feels like a hundred miles. The other thing about the hundred mile thing is that at the beginning of the movie, we're told the protagonist's car needs oil pretty much ASAP, yet the car manages to keep going for at least 24 hours until it's convenient to the plot for the car to break down. I know "movie magic" and all that, but they actually had her stop and get gas multiple times in the movie which breaks some cliches, yet they let the oil go for the whole movie. K. Another thing I'm mad about is the fact that it's 2018 and movies are still thriving off the "no phone reception" cliche. Come on, never in my life have I been in an area that had absolutely no reception, and I live around some pretty country areas. Most "bad reception" areas have at LEAST one to two bars, and that should be enough to get through to 911. Not to mention the fact that as mentioned previously, they traveled a great deal in this movie, definitely enough to get into other areas that have reception. You can't tell me a seemingly hundred mile stretch of road has absolutely no reception anywhere along it. Technology is too advanced now for that. Oh yeah and the protagonist also got a gun towards the end of the movie and never even used it. There was a situation she was in after she got the gun where she sat on the road just staring at the events unfolding in front of her when she had many things she could try to do, such as shooting the tires of the tow truck maybe?? But guess everyone still has to play dumb in thriller/horror movies...The ending also made no sense. We saw that tow truck actually get demolished - and then it's just back and good as new all of a sudden? The bad guy (and the truck) was actually able to survive being pushed off a cliff? Curse movie magic. This movie is actual garbage.
Wuchak RELEASED IN 2015 (2017 in the USA) and written & directed by Micheal Bafaro, "Wrecker" is a road/thriller with elements of horror about two young women traveling through the Cascades who are targeted by a malevolent semi tow truck driver.People give this movie the lowest of ratings just because it's a remake of the Spielberg classic from 1971, albeit with obvious changes. The plot and a few scenes are taken almost verbatim from "Duel" (e.g. the trucker deceptively waving the girls to pass and the diner sequence) while some scenes are similar, but different (e.g. the cliff scene) and some are totally new (e.g. the cop sequence).Thankfully, the movie has the same realistic tone as "Duel" without venturing into the cartoonish implausibilities of the Joy Ride flicks, especially the two over-the-top sequels. The BC locations (standing in for Washington) are magnificent; needless to say, great cinematography. I liked the way the girls aren't always babbling back-and-forth; there are several long quiet stretches, just like in real-life traveling.Anna Hutchison is winsome as the main protagonist, but a little on the play-it-safe side, which ties into the distressing climax. Andrea Whitburn plays the somewhat wild child and looks great (I KNEW what happened to her; it's kinda obvious). Interestingly, the aging waitress (Jennifer Koenig) has a superior figure to both of 'em.While "Wrecker" loses points for being unoriginal and a couple of awkwardly edited scenes, it should be appreciated by fans of "Duel," "Joy Ride" (2001) and "Breakdown" (1997).THE FILM RUNS 83 minutes and was shot in the Kamloops area of British Columbia, Canada.GRADE: C+/B- (5.5/10)
lone_howlingwolf this is just a stupid remake of Duel 1971 they just sole and redid most of the scenes you're better off watching the original because this movie sucks just saying i hate when they take a good movie and Destroy it with a dumb remake or reboot like this so movie makers please stop stealing some elses work
