Ten years before the events of episode one, James McCloud and Peppy Hare set out on a top-secret mission to the planet Venom. Meanwhile, a young Fox McCloud stays with Wolf O'Donnell's father, Cael, alongside Wolf and his girlfriend, Fara Phoenix.
After a successful mission on the planet Fortuna, Fox McCloud is captured by his rival, Wolf O'Donnell, and a squad of Venomian soldiers while visiting a memorial.
