Reviews

OllieSuave-007 This is a funny TV-series that is a collection of home movies taken by everyday people around the country. Families submit their home videos to the ABC network and winners get first and second place monetary prizes toward the end of each episode. From embarrassing sports moments to wedding ceremony mishaps, and from comical physical oopsies to funny pet moments, this series will send you some side-splitting laughs.Earlier seasons were the funniest, as you could tell much of the home videos were genuine and the "mishaps" were candid. Later seasons featured a lot of videos that were obviously "staged" by people to make their mishaps look funny in order to get themselves onto the show. One video I distinctly remember was this guy getting hit in the eye by a ping-pong ball during a table tennis match, flinching a bit afterward, and then forcing himself onto the floor in an unremarkable attempt to be funny.Overall, some good laughs here. But of course, laugh at the genuine and funnily candid home videos versus the outrageously staged ones.Grade B
Joey Kawa Many times we've all been annoyed over staged videos winning money without deserving it, seeing kids smeared in stuff where it's so obvious the parents did it (How the hell did the kid reach the ceiling?!) and we've unfortunately also seen proof of some really poor parenting, just so people could get those 15 minutes of fame. The show's been on for 17 years now and surprisingly it seems through the newest season that someone has opened his eyes. The videos are so much better now, whoever used to pick them out must've either been fired or figured out that he needed to revise his skills. Now it's actually funny! And there ain't so many little babies vomiting on their parents (gross, not funny!), but the usual groin accidents will probably never leave.Personally I think Tom Bergeron is a much better host than e.g. Bob Saget or the sibling couple (those were horrible!).All in all, the show has improved a lot, I think it's worth wasting time on ; )
ptway I have watched your show for years and enjoyed it. However, last night a segment showed a young boy encouraged by an adult to put his pet white mouse on top of a cage outdoors. Suddenly a bird of prey swooped down and flew off with the mouse. The audience and the host laughed and the host made a comment about grace before mealtime. I was so shocked at the inhumane, insensitive attitude of your host and the audience, who is always affected by the behavior of the host,I'm sending letters about this to PETA, ASPCA & Bob Barker hoping they will take action. Another program about America's Funniest Animals requests no videos showing harm to animals be sent. How different their standard is from yours! We all know life exists at the expense of other life but to encourage a youngster to "feed" his mouse to a bird of prey, even accidentally, and then laugh about it teaches him to be insensitive to life in general. Margaret Mead once said the most dangerous thing you can do to a child is let it get away with torturing an animal. This certainly falls in that category. As an Anthropologist I'm concerned about this and our culture as a result of your program.
atribunella I don't know where you and everybody that watches your show think that it is humorous, and funny. It shows the mentality of the people watching and all involved in making this show happen. It seems everybody involved likes to watch people of all ages get hurt. And thats funny, real funny.....Cars crashing, people falling, kids getting hurt.Thats funny.Ill agree on one thing.some of the animals are smarter than everybody concerned.Your show sucks, your host is a jerk, and is about as funny as a fart in a windstorm.I wouldn't give you a plug nickel for any of it.The prize money you give away to the winners,is such a wast of money...If I was one of your sponsors, I would sue you, or cut you off..The few real humorous one that I saw that should have won,got cut off... Just thought I would let you know.It sucks
