timcurcio-90786 What a fun show! Yacko, Wacko and Dock are off the hook funny and truly zany to the max! This show is lit even to this day and as a viewer in these troubled times it is good to find myself smiling and rubbing my belly with a big belly laugh!!!!! What good old fashioned yukks, not like the "political" humor of Daily Show et all. Wicked themes have their place but not in a funny cartoon! And there's even some heart-felt segments like the ones with the candle or that sweet gold wrapping paper that have no jokes at all. Thanks Stephan Spielberg for making such an evergreen humor gem. Spoiler alert: you'll laugh your sokks off!Hello, nurse!!!!Tim C.
bettycjung 9/28/17. Before I watched this series I never knew that it was an Ambling Production, a Steven Spielberg production. I never thought I would finish these 99 episodes, but it went fast! This cartoon series is timeless in its humor and I enjoyed the subtle references to political climate at the time. My best episode is the "Brain's Apprentice." This is a great series for children and adults alike! And,you really can watch it over and over again. Great music parodies to boot!
Catherine_Grace_Zeh I used to watch this show when I was growing up. When I think about it, I remember it very well. If you ask me, it was a good show. Two things I remember very well are the opening sequence and theme song. In addition to that, everyone was ideally cast. The writing was also very strong. The performances were top-grade, too. I hope some network brings it back so I can see every episode. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that I'll always remember this show in my memory forever, even though I haven't seen every episode. Now, in conclusion, if some network ever brings it back, I hope that you catch it one day before it goes off the air for good.
S.R. Dipaling I recall that I first heard about this show from some friends. I decided I'd take them up on catching this show, though I was initially somewhat skeptical, since most animated programming run during the "kiddie" hours(namely, about 2:30p.m. to 5p.m.,weekdays,before most kid-friendly programming was edged in favor of more adult fare)was either cookie-cutter type entertainment, made to sell cereal or toys,or was imported stuff like "Pokemon",but since these friends of mine shared an uncanny amount of common interest in entertainment as myself,I tried this show. I was hooked almost instantly.Did I mention that I was a junior in college at the time? For the next five years,I would find myself watching(and, for that part, finding)less and less of this show until it flat disappeared. It broke my heart, because this was arguably the most inspired t.v. for kids OR adults. Produced by Steven Spielberg, this extension of the WB cannon of toons was supposed to be an expanse on the exclusively kid-friendly "Tiny Toons"(which was only marginally entertaining, what I saw of it,anyway),but in fact this had the almost unfettered sense of fun-for-all-ages animation blended with a very adult(read:savvy,literate,media-aware,culturally hip,not crude or obscene)humor. The central characters, three non-species determined siblings(that could just as easily be considered representations of Freud's human psyche, among other things)Wakko,YAkko and Dot,act as both hosts and participants in a series of vignettes built around a stable of other unique characters. There are too many to recount at this sitting:the ones who come to mind are Pinky and the Brain,a pair of lab mice, one brilliant, the other dense and near-retarded,who try fruitlessly to take over the world; a crusty, elderly squirrel named Slappy and her nephew Chip;a dense mutt named Runt and his smarter, lady cat friend Rita;three Pigeons--the "Goodfeathers"--who are modeled after the main three characters from "Goodfella" and Mindy and Buttons;a carefree toddler with a penchant for trouble and her super-protective,unceasingly worrying dog/protector,respectively. I was thrilled to find this show on CArtoon Network back in 201,but they must've shifted this show out shortly after. Now(like practically everything else on TV)on DVD,I suspect I'll have to look these up on that medium. To echo what another reviewer wrote, this show I think probably resonates as well,if not better, with older audiences(like myself),but I think that this is worth a look no matter what your age. All you need a sense of humor.
