Calling this an opportunity or a distant desire to review this long lost series from the public eye and about a show that (one of my favorite, and revered actresses' of all time and highly adorable and practical) Nicole Kidman did before the world came to knew her through her films, this one definitely needs a view worth of your eyes. Before I go on with my review, I would like to tell that there many versions roaming in the market, while there are two main versions i.e., a set of 3 episodes and a set of them into 6 episodes (LATTER OF WHICH I GOT HOLD OF), so there's no difference in both of them, but I decided to let to know beforehand. The show revolves around Katrina Stanton as Nicole Kidman, a young innocent woman who is in for her long-estranged father but gets entrapped in the web of lies and brutality, when she becomes a pawn in a drug smuggling when one of the the smugglers encharms her, unbeknownst to her, she gets caught as a result at the Bangkok airport and then in the Bangkok Hilton prison (a fictional name to Hanoi Hilton) and how her struggles and the people (including her father in disguise) who help her, try to get her out of the mess. Now, my review, to this show that is looked upright to all the people who have grown watching this during the time it release (1989),You might find it dull, inferior to contemporary styles, inconsistent at places but wont disagree to me, that, it is a well made series looking at its time and how shows like this dealt such topics and how without turning mediocre, give a great deal for a time of 4 hours and more few minutes. Plus, you wouldn't ignore the musical score it plays behind and how awesome it is and how it haunts and enchants you even later and when you have watched the series. At last, do go and get a DVD and decide yourself that haven't I got you a great deal for the money with something different?

Quite the best mini series ever made. It tells the story of a young lady born illegitimately into money trying to track down her father. She is young and naive having led a very sheltered life. She meets up, apparently by chance, with a man called Arkie Rogan. Rogan is a drug smuggler who uses 'mules' to carry the stuff through, always travelling on a false passport. Kat, (Nicole KIdman), falls for him and ends up getting caught in Thai customs. There then follows a race between her lawyers to track down Rogan and avoiding the death penalty for drug trafficking. A wonderfully haunting soundtrack accompanies this superb piece of work which should also act as a warning to those thinking of making easy money by drug smuggling. I won't reveal the ending, it is far too good.

I can't believe how good this miniseries was in light of the fact that Nicole Kidman has been in some stinkers of movies since then. This is her best acting ever. One mistake I did notice though is when Kat goes through the garbage chute and is in the tunnels below the hospital, she kicks off her shoes and kicks them aside as they are impeding her progress. When she meets up with Hal in the tunnel, the shoes are back on her feet. Did anyone else notice? Wonderful story, very well acted. I thought Nicole's character was very well written and she showed an amazing strength of character considering her upbringing by her very cold mother and grandmother. Arkie's character reminds me of certain men I have observed in life who use their good looks and charisma to lure women into doing their bidding and have absolutely no feeling for these women and no remorse for the terrible suffering they cause. This miniseries will stay in your mind long after you have watched it.

It's all flawless. I have watched it many many times, and it never gets old. Always tense, exciting and worrying. The sense of heated desperation always hits me watching this. The only problem with this show, is that nobody has heard of it. It's not possible to talk about a show that nobody has seen. cause you don't wanna give spoilers :(
